Official CES 2006 Expo News and Coverage Thread

Try closing on a house days before CES, dealing with the builder to fix stuff the day you are leaving, and getting 3-4hrs of sleep/night at CES. I wonder how much smiling you will be doing ;)

CES 2006 Blunders, Deceptions and Other Goofs While we enjoyed ourselves at CES this year (in the way that people who get 2 hours of sleep and like to spend 20 hours a day on their feet define enjoyment) there were a number of booths and demos which fell under one of the following categories...

    Upcoming Audioholics Reviews!

We don't consider purchasing speakers with our own money from a store just so we can do a review on them since the company doesn't want us to, a good idea. We don't have interest in giving a company free press when they made it clear they don't want to work with us. Thanks.

Speaker Break In: Fact or Fiction?

Tweeters weren't directly addressed b/c they experience even less break in than mids and woofers. 50hrs of usage is likely your ears getting used to the speakers rather than them improving in fidelity.

I didn't see booths for any of the manufacturers mentioned here, but I will make my rounds again to Alexis Park tomorrow since I was unable to cover everything I wanted to see. I had a lot of fun there today and got a little carried away chatting with people and listened to good tunes a little...

    Processor or High End Receiver?

Don't forget about room acoustics which play even a larger role than the speakers themselves. Most of the budget should be allocated towards speakers and room acoustics if your primary concern is audio. As for NOT using the internal amps of a receiver, thats not the point. The reason...

    Paradigm Poor Customer Service

When I attended USF, I went to Sensous Sounds on a few occasions. Personally the only thing I bought from them were CD's b/c of their excellent prices. They pushed Paradigm products a lot over there so I am really surprised that Paradigm wasn't more accomodating especially given their huge...

    Paradigm Poor Customer Service

The warranty still falls to the manufacturer. The dealer is only serves as the intermediate. The driver should be covered and this is a sad situation for the user, especially since its essentially chump change to the manufacturer to fix and also ensures brand loyalty which they just lost from...
