The Best Amplifier We've Ever Measured? - NAD M23

Gotta love the argument anytime we review a high end piece of gear that: "the same performance can be had for less money." Yet, there are very few instances where this is ever true. Also, those making such claims are rarely ever a consumer seeking the best gear and are instead seeking the...

It's all relative to where it's being amplified. Adding gain adds noise.

The Best Amplifier We've Ever Measured? - NAD M23

Depends on the efficiency of your speakers and how closely you sit near them. I can hear hiss a few feet away with amps that measure like the Outlaw when connected to speakers > 90dB sensitivity at very low listening levels or just sitting in idle.

The Best Amplifier We've Ever Measured? - NAD M23

The Outlaw is a great value like all their amplifiers. It's noise and distortion performance aren't in the same ballpark as this NAD amp. I got 102.7dB SNR at 1 watt! The Outlaw amp according to Amir's test got about 79.5dB at 1 watt. That's a 20dB+ difference in noise. The distortion of the...

They will be higher for sure, especially since the feedback of this amp is optimized for 20kHz and below. It's not a standard test to do an FFT up at that frequency but I will look next time I do bench tests.

The Best Amplifier We've Ever Measured? - NAD M23

The difference with an amp like the Levinson is it could drive a fork and not complain. PuriFi is working on a 1kwatt module. Once that's out and implemented, I don't think any linear amp will compete with it at any price.

The Best Amplifier We've Ever Measured? - NAD M23

No that's the point. The Outlaw amp won't measure nearly as good w respect to noise and distortion. I don't know of any linear amps that would short of the $50k Levinson.

The Best Amplifier We've Ever Measured? - NAD M23

Ever so often a product enters our lab that absolutely blows us away and redefines a category. The NAD M23 is such a product as you can see in my test report. This type of Class D design marks the end of an era of inefficient linear amplifiers. The NAD M23 is a 200wpc stereo amp that utilizes...

Anthem MRX-740 or Denon 6700h for main channels power amp with 2.71 Vrms input sensitivity?

It's very unlikely anyone could hear 0.018% THD+N with real program material in a room with speakers and NOT headphones. It's why I'm not a fan of the SINAD gospel of people chasing a #. I strongly believe based on my years of testing and designing highly sensitive audio communication systems...

Anthem MRX-740 or Denon 6700h for main channels power amp with 2.71 Vrms input sensitivity?

You can't turn amps off any AV receivers AFAIK. You can only do a preamp disconnect which decouples the amp section from the preamp to avoid ingress of noise and distortion from unloaded amps clipping when you exceed the max preamp voltage drive...

Starke Sound Fiera4 4CH Amplifier Does It Meet Power Spec?

Yea it was designed for higher sensitivity and it plays really loud and clean.xmated with good dual subs. The F328be will have the advantage. As standalone 2CH, no subs, Salon2 for the win.

Starke Sound Fiera4 4CH Amplifier Does It Meet Power Spec?

Impossible since I don't have access to Salon 2s. I know for a fact the Salon2 have superior bass extension and output though. The F328Be are a bit weak in bass for a speaker of that size and price.
