I get to quit my Job

Tommorow will be my 1 year anniversary of leaving my cube farm to pursue the truth in audio full time! I can't tell you how liberating it was. Some folks jump out of a plane, or shoot up drugs to get a rush. Those things don't do anything for me. Leaving a place on excellent terms you hate...

Yamaha Announces RX-V2600 Receiver with HDMI Upconversion & Scaling!

Yes. Its going to be the same as its always been with a majority of receivers out there. No it won't do 130x7 simultaneously, nor should it. As we stated probably more than 1000 times in the forums and our articles, this is an unrealistic test condition and is also unfair to place such...

Yamaha Announces RX-V2600 Receiver with HDMI Upconversion & Scaling!

It's also possible that first generation HD players may output only standard DD to be compatible with legacy devices. Don't forget they are still banging their heads to figure out of 7CH should be in same speaker/channel configuration as current 5.1 + 2 back speakers, or be in a modified...

Yamaha Announces RX-V2600 Receiver with HDMI Upconversion & Scaling!

Or you could wait 5-10 more years for DD+++++++ and DTS HD^3. Why buy next year when you can wait another 5 years? By then the receiver should be able to make you coffee and babysit your little ones. See my point? In reality, we are at least 2 years off on the new formats, not to mention...

Yamaha Announces RX-V2600 Receiver with HDMI Upconversion & Scaling!

It doesn't have i.link but does have HDMI which will pass all current audio formats except SACD. I would expect the amp section is comparible to 2500 but with the edge to biamp front channels.

    Anybody else upset?

Yea but Europe has an excellent mass transit system, something we will likely never see here.

    Crazy Gas Prices!

Thats probably accurate given the $4-5k cost adder for the technology and the fact that the battery will need to be replaced 4-5 years later which I believe the cost is passed on to the consumer.

    Audio analyzers. Which one?

Um, not quite! In fact, most PC based audio analyzers are serverly limited b/c of noise, distortion and resolution. Its fine to do spot check measurements for the most part, but doesn't cut the mustard for developing new hardware or doing precise measurements. Its funny when I see some web...

    Crazy Gas Prices!

OMG, I also thought that too the first time I saw the pic. I told my wife and she thought I was crazy. I almost freaked at first. We must view things very similarly - The Pessimist :) Yes the interior does rock. Its one of the main reasons I picked this car over a new G35 Sedan. Though...

    Crazy Gas Prices!

I just got an Acura TL. The damn thing requires Premium unleaded. Its costing me about $60-80/week now in gas! But when I feel the buttery smooth 270hp power behind the wheel and listen to the cool built in DVD-A system, I quickly forget how reamed I am getting at the pump ;)

    Issue with Yamaha RX-V4600 HDMI?

More feedback from Yamaha Tech Support This Problem lays with the Cable box. It is not an HDCP issue. It has to do with HDMI 1.0 compliance. Neither Scientific Atlanta or Motorola boxes were originally designed to recognize a "REPEATER". A repeater is a switching device in the HDMI...

Speaker Break In: Fact or Fiction?

If your woofers are "popping" its b/c you are bottoming them out. No amount of break in will resolve this issue, at least until you blow them out or the voice coil becomes dislodged from the spider ;) I recommend turning your bass down or crossing them over to a sub to eliminate this...

Bics or Ascend Acoustics for my low budget HT?

We don't have the resources to dedicate analytical measurements to budget product so don't expect anything more than perhaps a nearfield measurement of the speakers. We plan on facing off a few entry level models at their retail price, NOT what you can buy them for at some etailer. In...
