    Yamaha RX-V4600 Receiver Review Thread

Actually that receiver runs warm normally. But in large rooms with moderate efficient, low impedance speakers, a separate amp, at least for the front 3 channels is probably a good way to go. We recommend the Yammie RX-V1600/2600 and Emotiva MPS-1 7CH amp. This is a killer combo!

Actually most decent power cables are 14/4 so that winds up being 11AWG equivalent which gets you close to the full power rating of a 120V/15A wall outlet. And when do you run an amp at full power continuously? If you did, and assuming you didn't blow out all of your speakers, trip a circuit...

That actually wasn't the best advice if applied to systems costing high $$$$. Beyond a certain price point, it doesn't make sense to spend those proportions on cables. For example, a decent interconnect really shouldn't cost more than $40/pair for a 2 meter length, speaker cable $2-3/ft...

14AWAG Stock Power Cable should be good enough. As for the connector, I don't buy it. It sounds like you were convinced of the cord by the manufacturer long before it ever showed up at your home. This is common with exotic cables. The power of suggestion is planted long before the cable...

If you mean the cheap patch cord that comes with the electronics, then NO. I use cables that meet our minimal Cable Budget Guidelines . It doesn't take much to meet the basics, but most patch cord just doesn't cut it, especially for video. I also look for quality terminations that make...

Clint's sound room is done by RPG and Rives Audio. Ray Adkins, Mark Sanfilipo, Ken Stein and Tom Andry use their own DIY treatments. I am in transition since I am building a new test facility but will definately have Rives, RPG and Auralex involved since this will be our premier system and...

It still amazes me the amount of hurtles audiophiles go through to rationalize that they think they can hear a difference in cables, especially power cables. They ignore science, logic and common sense, and turn to blind faith instead. What is even more amazing is that they usually ignore...

I'm a bit skeptical on the Red Cross based on what I have heard in the past such as: http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2001/10/29/102634.shtml http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/rc_blinks.html In the end, it may have worked itself out but it took a lot of time. Katrina victims...

NO. You need HDMI Ver. 1.3. There is no current chipset in production that will support it yet. No first Gen HD Players will pass TrueHD audio. They will downconvert to DD but at 640kbps.

Official Denon AVR-5805 Review Support Thread

Try changing the Display Mode in the OSD setup. Why would this system sway your speaker/acoustical treatment purchases? Audyssey is not a replacement for either. At best its a supplement. You still need good passive treatment for this system to perform optimally. That being said, the...

Their booth was a madhouse, especially since they had prime location. The 79 was the only new player they really focused on when I visited them. I will check their press releases to see if anything else is new.

    Yamaha RX-V4600 Receiver Review Thread

Taking a look at the S&V 5CH amp measurements for the 2 Yammie receivers, it appears they both initiate their current protection at the same power delivery threshold. Without this feature, they would likely have to have larger heat sink area to meet UL or what they feel to be their own safety...

Sheep I wondered that myself but I believe the active Servo must help that out to some extent. Also, since its oval shaped, it doesn't have corners like a square woofer, so it shouldn't suffer those effect as much. Don't forget anytime you put speakers in a wall, there are always compromises...
