use LFE + Main if you want your main speakers and sub on all the time playing bass. also dont forget to goto 2CH direct setup and engage the sub there so it works for 2CH stereo and pure direct.

Seth; I still get subout using pure direct mode. Have him check his "2CH direct" settings to ensure he has the sub engaged on that. not sure about the other issue. I haven't used my AVP much b/c of preparations for the up and coming SOTU event. :(

All things being equal more power is always better to minimize clipping during large transients and to also handle lower impedance speakers. That being said a 100wpc amp with 3dB of headroom is just as good as a 150wpc amp with 1dB of headroom, all other things being equal.

Ceiling speakers should be avoided for critical music or hometheater as much as possible but given the choice between 5 in ceiling speakers or 0 speakers for a 5.1 system, I'd choose the former. If a compromise could be made, the installer should try to encourage their customer to use in-celing...
