On the recent Emotiva podcast they announced that they will be debuting the UMC-1 pre/pro at the '08 Audioholics "State of the CEU Show" this October in Orlando.

For those of you who don't know about the UMC-1 pre/pro and it's features, visit the Emotiva site. They have been pretty "hush, hush" for some time about all of the feature. But they have stated that it will feature:

  • Dual 32 bit dual-core Cirrus processors
  • Multi-channel Dolby Volume
  • Genesis Torino video scaling engine
  • Five HDMI 1.3a inputs and 1 HDMI output
  • Scaling to 1080p
  • Full color graphical On-Screen display over HDMI
  • Auto room correction with User definable EQ's

Oh, and did I say it's going to debut for $699

The UMC-1 is the lower line unit. They are releasing the higher end model shortly after, the XMC-1.

They have also announced a few other items that should be making their first public debut at the AH Show:

  • ERC-1 CD Player
  • ERS-112 Single 12" Subwoofer
  • ERS-212 Dual 12" Subwoofer and amplifier/controller
  • ERS-110 Single 10" Subwoofer (I think)

I'm sure we'll hear something official by next week. But considering all of the new stuff they brought to my home in July that will also be making a formal public debut at the AH Show, this will one Hell of a 2008 send out for Emotiva.

2009 looks to be a stellar year for them!

(now if only the economy cooperates for the rest of us to spend money)

Just in case you missed the pics from the July meet I held that Emotiva brought a truck load of gear:

UMC-1 has five HDMI inputs? I thought it was just going to have four.

That would be a nice bonus if it has 5 now.

Per the webcast, they added another. They should be posting the features on their site Monday.

It seems like forever that I waited for Emotiva to release their new processors. It's too late for me now, but I wish them all the best when it hits the market.

Looking over the links in post#4 and listening to Emotiva's pod cast was an eye opener. I thought the FL GTG was all about a bunch of guys who were interested in just meeting each other and drinking really large amounts of alcohol. What a surprise it was to see all that audio stuff going on. $3000 bookshelf speakers ... (Homer Simpson moan) ... :). I just had the wrong idea.

Emotiva is one slick outfit and worth keeping an eye on. I admire them for getting in a game that has big money competitors and offering value and innovation to people who do their homework. I don't expect to see them running ads for fancy wires.

This AH '08 CEU Show sounds like it's going to be like the GTG on steroids.
Thanks for this thread. I'm looking forward to seeing what all goes on down there. The pic's putting faces to names are great.

The AH SOTU really is quite an affair. It's a major event with lots of industry leaders and professionals. Heck, at the banquet last year, I ended up sitting for dinner beside the VP of Silicon Optics (One of the reasons I couldn't pull the trigger on anything without a Reon chip:D). The Demo Rooms are great. You get to meet the designers of the gear as well as all the people that make these companies work. If you can manage to go, it is well worth the time and investment.

I would like to have gone again this year but my wife and I just couldn't work out a vacation schedule this year. She's been at her job less than a year and doesn't have the vacation time. I wouldn't go without her. Heck, I don't even fart without her say-so.

So, did you change your mind about going?

I meant that I'm going to see what all goes on down there from here. That's not a trip that I can swing. Consider it evidence of a misspent youth. ;)

Major,

You talk a good game but I already figured out that nobody puked, got arrested or
woke up naked on the front lawn. :D

I even saw a photograph of a guy holding a bottle of water. Puh-lease! :p

EDIT: BTW I don't drink. Anymore.

That's too bad b/c this year the demo rooms will be grander and the food more plentiful. I think someone needs to call in sick for a few days :)

Gene,

Will there be a complete list of "stuff" at the demo rooms before the event, or do we just show up and see what they brought. I know Emotiva already spilled the beans on some of the things they will have there.

Unfortunately it's like pulling teeth getting this info from the sponsors.

I did manage to put together a Educational Seminar Schedule:
http://www.audioholics.com/news/trade-show-coverage/educational-seminars

As for the demo equipment, bank on it being the lastest stuff announced at CEDIA or even newer stuff that wasn't announced particularly from companies like Emotiva, EMP, and Epson.

Yep. I would like to know more about Emo-Q room correction, but I'm sure they will talk about that at the show.

I don't think they listed it there, but the UMC-1 as well as the XMC-1 will include Dolby Volume as well.

They also can support DSD --> analog decoding, but they don't have licensing for SACD at this time.

Any word on the DA coverters being used in the UMC-1?

Also will it be able to derive a back surrouund channel from TrueHD/DTSMA 5.1 tracks ?
