    Center Channel Break in period

Crunchy as in the sound you get when eating Captain Crunch cereal? :) You need to be more specific so folks can help understand your situation. Also, if you haven't done so already, turn off YPAO.

    Genesis SACD 70-75

Thanks guys. So where is a good place to buy them? Amazon seems pricey. I'd love to at least pick up Selling England by the Pound and Trespass.

    EMP E55Ti

Its called a D'Appolito driver alingment MTM vertical arrangement on top with 3 bass drivers below. Atlantic Tech and many others have been doing this for years. I just found out about this model today as well which looks like it will be their flagship product, NOT a replacement to their...

Deep Thoughts about Life by Jack Handy

"The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A death. What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home...

    AVATAR, the movie...

Saw the movie last week at a 3-D IMAX theater. The experience was incredible. This is truly a benchmark film that others will attempt to equal. Despite its mediocre cast and story, the wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Denon AVR-4310CI Receiver Review

LFE trim has nothing to do with Dynamic EQ. I am also in agreement with Tom's findings. On most recordings Dynamic EQ tends to over boost bass. I find it useful when listening to 80s style rock music however which tends to be void of bass.

Help me choose from EMP EF30T, SVS STS-01, Polk Studio 70 and Energy RC-50 based syst

I wouldn't assume the SVS is a better speaker than the EF30Ts. The EF30Ts are quite the performer, just not much of a looker hence why they were phased out. In many ways they outperform the new E5ti tower but the E5ti is much more wife friendly. I'd jump on the EF30s at that price if you...

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope yours was a wonderful one. I thank the man upstairs for all of the fortunes bestowed upon us even in these troubled times. Its such a wonderful experience to relive the Christmas experience through your children's eyes. Now that the kids are all snug in...

Vertical vs Horizontal Center Channel Speaker Designs An Alternate Perspective

B/C these were in-room measurements at the listening position which would look terrible if 1/2th oct res was chosen. 1/4th is more like how we hear as we are mostly concerned with low Q dips and bumps. After XMAS I will redo these measurements outdoors and in closer proximity with more...

Vertical vs Horizontal Center Channel Speaker Designs An Alternate Perspective

Not sure about their current prices but I would guess its around $900-1500/ea depending on finish. The -10dB dip is likely a room anomaly. After XMAS I plan on retaking these measurements outdoors to eliminate the room as much as possible. I suspect the lobing will show up more in this...

    Rhapsody can suck it.

Rhapsody sound quality is really poor. You should use Pandora.com which streams for free to your PC or Samsung Blu-ray player. The only downside is you can't play a particular song at any time. The sound quality is as close to CD as I've ever heard from any streaming service however. I am...

Pioneer Electronics VSX-23TXH 7.1 Receiver Review

It could be the music sources you are using. Older CD's are usually very bass anemic. If you have your main speakers set to "large" and sub to "no" you should be ok. Turn off the auto EQ and make sure your tone controls are set to bypass or flat. Also check the polarity of your speakers to...

Pioneer Electronics VSX-23TXH 7.1 Receiver Review

Maybe you have the subwoofer out disables for two channel music. There should be a setting in the bass management that allows for sub out even if the main speakers are set large. This is a common problem people face when playing back two channel sources. Also make sure you don't have "pure...

    The Speaker Company closing shop?

No and to be honest the brand equity probably isn't worth much given they were so short lived and didn't really have a signature look or feel b/c their products were all open tool and changed all the time. Damn I really miss that TSAT system. It was an insane value.

    The Speaker Company closing shop?

just_listening Great points. Again tSc was actually profitable from what I understand. The problem is some of their other brands need more attention so I believe they are refocusing their efforts there.

    The Speaker Company closing shop?

Now that the cat is out of the bag, I can confirm this is true. Apparently the folks at D&M considered it to be too small an operation to keep going. They are focusing more on their higher margin brands instead. It's a real shame as I was writing up the 2009 POY awards I was going to give...
