Review of the Salk Veracity HT3 loudspeaker

That is one of the reasons why I love that tweeter. It plays down low enough to blend really well in a two-way design. It also has great power handling.

Review of the Salk Veracity HT3 loudspeaker

Ditto on that. I haven't found a nicer sounding tweeter than a Scan Speak 9500. I prefer it to even the Revelator.

    Denon AVP-A1HDCI / POA-A1HDCI Review Support Thread

The test tone calibration level and the volume scaling issue I discovered are not related whatsoever. If you want to calibrate at 75dB simply lower the master volume. As for volume scaling, it only occurred on HD DVD's that were recorded below -20dBFs and only when I had Audyssey and PLIIx...

Tips for a Clean HDTV Installation

That's true, but I've taken component video cables and coiled them and watched the characteristic impedance change by a few ohms. In most cases it won't make a difference in real world scenarios but why risk it? Its good housekeeping not to coil your cables or run power parallel with line...

Tips for a Clean HDTV Installation

Loops help to create a strong magnetic field inside the coil due to Faraday's Law of Induction. Thus when you loop a cable you increase inductance. The impedance of a coax for example is SQRT(L/C) where L will increase with looping and thus caused increased cable impedance.

Tips for a Clean HDTV Installation

Be careful doing this with video cables, especially HDMI as you can change the cables impedance/inductive properties as a result.

Reviewing Home Theater Related Product Reviews

It's not easy finding qualified reviewers that have good writing skills, ability to do objective analysis and good people skills. I am open to applicants of course.

    Denon AVR4310 HDMI issue

In the Denon manual they warn about compatibility issues when using HDMI to DVI. I suggest either upgrading your display to an HDMI one or using component video for all of your HD connections.

    HHGREGG Excellent Buying Experience

Hmm I am not sure about their return policy either. They seem very vague about it. Here is hoping I don't have any issues with my new Panny Plasma.

If those RBH Towers are too big, you may want to consider their 661-SE/Rs across the front channels and the 66-SE for the side channels and 61-SE/R's for the back channels or SI-760 inwalls. Here is a review I did of such a system...

    Denon AVP-A1HDCI / POA-A1HDCI Review Support Thread

The Emo XPA series amps are an absolute steal. However when I A/B'ed the XPA-2 with the POA-A1 I felt the latter was a tad more refined sounding. This of course was my subjective opinion. Given the price difference, I'd go all Emo but if you can get a good deal on the Denon, run with it. I...

    HHGREGG Excellent Buying Experience

I have family members that think I can get them a good deal on a TV b/c of our E-store affiliation. I instead tell them to buy from HHGREG since they will get a better price and it also takes me off the hook for setting it up for them or hearing them b1tch when the picture looks like crap on...

Runaway Toyotas. You saw it on this site first!

This is pretty shocking coming from Toyota products but it goes to show you all car manufacturers have issues even the ones typically rated highest in reliability. Years ago I bought an 02 Maxima SE. It was the biggest POS I ever owned. Tons of reliability problems including an accelerator...

    Apple iPad

I love my iTouch. Its the first Apple product I've ever purchased. I have no interest in this iPad whatsoever. Its too big given the lack of functionality it offers. The touchpad keyboard would drive me insane after about 2 minutes of using it. I really don't get this product.

    HHGREGG Excellent Buying Experience

Recently a chain appliance / electronics franchise called HHGREGG opened all across Florida. I didn't give them much notice b/c of their peculiar name but I recently noticed their pricing was very aggressive on TV's, much better than the local stores like Best Buy for example. I was...

    Denon AVP-A1HDCI / POA-A1HDCI Review Support Thread

Me neither. I figured out that trick on the fly. Audyssey kept giving me a huge suckout around 40-60Hz when it ran correction individually for each of my subs so I needed a clever way to assign all subs as the same while still being able to use all the the outputs to connect to my various subs...

    Denon AVP-A1HDCI / POA-A1HDCI Review Support Thread

No b/c I set the processor to one sub but assigned the other 2 sub outs as sub 1. This is the only way I could get Audyssey to run its calibration for all of my subs at the same time. I asked Denon to offer a summed sub calibration mode that would allow users to do this via all sub outs so you...

I have an article coming out on this topic shortly but to give you the quick answer: 1. assign both subs as sub 1 2. place each sub equadistant from the listening area 3. level match both subs 4. Apply Audyssey Audyssey and most room correction systems, works best when it applies a...

Panasonic Posts $4.2 Billion Loss - Cuts 15,000 Jobs, Closes 27 Plants

Sadly no. The AH E-store dealer cost on that display is more than what HHGREG is selling it for. Incidentally I went to the next model up the G10 which is THX certified for $800. I am now a proud owner of a THX display :) I just did a price search and found Amazon selling it for $748...
