Identifying Legitimately High Fidelity Loudspeakers: Myths & Facts about Cabinets

we do annual shootouts but most manufacturers don't like them. Ironically some of the manufacturers that spout the DBT mantra like 3rd party shootouts the least!

Identifying Legitimately High Fidelity Loudspeakers: Myths & Facts about Cabinets

That is why you rely on competently written professional reviews as a starting point. Some manufacturers will also post interior shots of the cabinets and parts used or at least mention them in their specs page. The more data a manufacturer is willing to disclose the better a consumer can be...

You will be fine though I recommend using 14/4 speaker cable instead.

    Emotiva Sub and customer service

The bad cap on the board has to do with the auto-on trigger circuit not a HPF. The sub is intentionally limited below 30Hz to protect the driver as you can see in my measurements.

    Steve Jobs has died.

I couldn't afford an Amiga either. My friend had one. I first had a Vic20 with Tape, then got a C64 which died on me 3 times (reliability issues). I then bought a used C128 and left it in C64 mode 99% of its life b/c there was no software for it. I even had the fastload software for the disc...

    Steve Jobs has died.

I loved the Amiga when it came out. It had a 50Mhz clock speed which was unheard of at the time, the best sound and graphics compared to any commercial computer. Commodore had stereo sound, multi voices and color while IBM was still green with beep sounds only. Commodore unfortunately was...

    Emotiva Sub and customer service

Emotiva had a problematic capacitor on the amp boards of some of their first runs on the Ultra subs. My test unit failed and they replaced it and it works fine now. They are upgrading anyone's amps who have experienced failures and its very easy to swap out.

    Steve Jobs has died.

Jeff as I stated in your "Done!" thread, I am an Apple and Steve Jobs fan. I didn't make that statement to disrespect Steve. I felt his death was somewhat anti-climatic since he just recently resigned from Apple and they made a rather lackluster announcement about a new iPhone that was nothing...

    Steve Jobs has died.

Very sad indeed and too bad he went out on a low point for Apple where they bragged about a new iPhone 5 and instead repackaged an iPhone 4 with a better camera.

We don't offer printable copies of our reviews yet but we may do that as a membership option down the road. Sometimes manufacturers purchase reprint rights to our reviews so you may find them on their websites (IE. Yamaha, Denon, etc).

    Mid bass module

It's usually NEVER a good idea to cross over subs at different frequencies in a room. To place a sub crossed over above 80Hz near a listening area is also unadvisable for reasons already mentioned in this thread. Just purchase two identical subs, properly place them and set them up and you will...

Steve Wilson "Grace for Drowning" Blu-ray 5.1 Music Release

It has a very late 60s early 70s progressive rock feel to it with heavy influences from Jethro Tull, King Crimson and Jazz like you mentioned. I love his reliance on having a well accomplished pianist playing in the background while layering keyboards and other instruments. Give it time, it...

Ugh, all of their measurements were done in room and the frequency response graph has a 140dB scale. Reviews like that inspired me to write an article like this: Audio Measurements: The Useful vs the Bogus Unfortunately, one must tread lightly with Earthquake b/c if they don't like your...
