Speaker System for less than 2K

The mids is where the EMP's dominated all the other speakers. The Klipsch's had the most bass and were very loud but they didn't have the vocal clarity of the EMPs and their top end was quite aggressive which I didn't prefer personally.

Speaker System for less than 2K

Don't pay too much attention to loudspeaker power ratings. They can be very misleading. Recommended reading: Loudspeakers & Power Ratings: What's the Deal Part I? — Reviews and News from Audioholics Loudspeakers & Power Ratings: What's the Deal Part II? — Reviews and News...

Audyssey MultEQ XT 32—32 Upgrade for AVR-5308CI and the AVP-A1HDCI, really?

Funny when I first built my theater room and had folding chairs in it, I did Audyssey calibration and it was incredible! It measured and sounded beautifully. Then once I installed my theater seats, I achieved terrible results every time. I finally had to track it down to 1 o 2 locations that...

RBH Sound SX-12 Subwoofer Review & Measurements

Those brands are not RBH's competition. RBH doesn't sell direct. EMP yes, so EMP needs to take a look. But,the question is do people buying EMP want aesthetics and reasonable sized box with decent performance down to 30Hz, or a giant heavy black box with 20Hz extension? The latter seems well...

$30,000 Budget For Stereo Set Up... Suggestions??

Hmm they are using a lot of fuzzy math to acoustically sum a nearfield measurement. It would be interesting to see how these speakers measure outdoors or anechoic. The bass measurement doesn't look quite right which is typical when attempting to sum nearfield responses of multiple woofers and...

RBH Sound SX-12 Subwoofer Review & Measurements

It's not a bad sub for its size class. I gave mine to my parents and they are quite happy with it. It's just pricey, especially since the $379 Emotiva Ultra 12 outperforms it in some areas. Emo wasn't in the sub business when the EP400 came out so it may be time for Axiom to refresh this sub...

RBH Sound SX-12 Subwoofer Review & Measurements

There are plenty of internal shots of the RBH sub in the actual review. Here is the page where you can see them: RBH Sound SX-12 Introduction — Reviews and News from Audioholics The cabinet is 3/4" MDF and well braced. Not a tank like an SVS but the RBH driver is lightweight in...

RBH Sound SX-12 Subwoofer Review & Measurements

Before comparing the RBH sub to the Axiom you should look at the CEA data for the Axiom..... This is difficult to do since Axiom doesn't submit product to anyone to measure via groundplane or CEA test methodology. Here is their 2nd top of the line sub (EP600) which doesn't even outperform a...

None of the speakers on your list have the dynamic capabilities of the RBH Sound T-30LSE system. You should definitely check them out. see: RBH Sound T-30LSE Review You won't need the JL subs if you get these speakers. For amps, save your money pick up some Emotiva XPA-1s for those babies :)

EMPtek Impression E55Ti Floorstanding Speaker System Review

I agree, the cabinet could probably be better braced on that speaker though Axiom would disagree ;) The EMP's do have a 1.2" thick front baffle which is really good. If you mod yours it would make for a great article for the site :)

Audyssey MultEQ XT 32—32 Upgrade for AVR-5308CI and the AVP-A1HDCI, really?

I would definitely call Denon to inquiry about all of this. I am sure they won't put your product in harm and will cover any defect (if any) as a result of the upgrade.

Audyssey MultEQ XT 32—32 Upgrade for AVR-5308CI and the AVP-A1HDCI, really?

I looked over the Denon documentation to modify the AVP and it does involve pulling some of the connector blocks off the backpanel to get to the circuit cards to replace. It shouldn't be too difficult to do yourself if you are a little tech savvy. I agree $1k is a bit steep but at least they...

The upgrade involves changing out several boards. I was scheduled to receive the upgrade for my AVP-A1 but Jeff Talmadge recently left the company so I need to find another contact that can facilitate this so I can review it.

Identifying Legitimately High Fidelity Loudspeakers: Myths & Facts about Cabinets

No way of determining that by just looking at the pics. I think the 800D is a fine piece of engineering but it goes against all the principles that Axiom preaches so what do I know? In all seriousness, basic mechanics is when you add more bracing, you raise the resonance frequency...

Identifying Legitimately High Fidelity Loudspeakers: Myths & Facts about Cabinets

Nice job! Better not show Axiom that cabinet though else they will tell you it caused more audible distortion with the bracing :) Perhaps the RBH cabinet weighs 200lbs without the drivers. I don't recall but we shall see.
