Audi0gurus Operating as Audioholics Store without our Permission

BTW I had to use a Zero instead of an O in the name b/c I blocked off their URL from our forum after I found one of their employees plugging their website here awhile back. Again this was done without our permission.

Audi0gurus Operating as Audioholics Store without our Permission

It has come to our Attention that Audi0gurus.com is still operating under the Business Name Audioholics Store. Their Toll Free # Answering service also refers to them as the Audioholics Store. After receiving numerous complaints from their customers for charging their credit cards or paypal...

Pioneer Atmos Speakers (SP-EFS73/SP-EBS73L/SP-EC73 and SW-E10) Preview

Yep I remember that Onkyo receiver back in the 90s. It was my dream to own it. The next generation receivers they made were wimpy in comparison when they watered down the amp section to throw in Dolby Digital. Great line to quote from Jurassic Park and very appropriate.

Pioneer Atmos Speakers (SP-EFS73/SP-EBS73L/SP-EC73 and SW-E10) Preview

Sadly some companies like Onkyo are dropping critically useful features like Audyssey Room correction in favor of Atmos b/c they lack the processing power to do both. We have an Atmos video coming out in the next couple of days where we discuss this in more detail. I also find it...

Dolby Atmos For Home Theater Explained

    1. acoustical interference 2. poor dispersion 3. poor separation While that top mounted driver is active its messing with the sound of the main channels that are in close proximity. A driver firing up at a ceiling will also spread around the room at the lower frequencies and the sound that...

Dolby Atmos For Home Theater Explained

I will surely listen to it but very common sense physics dictates its a bad idea for so many reasons. IMO it truly is an act of desperation by an industry fighting to stay relevant.

It's even more sad to see solid loudspeaker designers based in grounded science endorsing the Atmos top mounted speaker solution as the next best thing since sliced bread.

I also don't know of too many woofers let alone subwoofers that CAN'T produce 90dB at 20Hz 1ft away from the driver!

    Transformers "Age Of Extinction"

I agree I liked elements of the first 3 except the stupid stereotypical character crap and not being able to distinguish the robots during action scenes b/c they all looked the same. Don't expect much of a plot from Michael Bay or JJ Abrams. Transformers Prime on the Hub is a much better...

    Transformers "Age Of Extinction"

This is just what we need. More action, more explosions, more camera shaking, etc to highlight artificial 3D and Dolby Atmos effects. Less story is a bonus :)

Pioneer Atmos Speakers (SP-EFS73/SP-EBS73L/SP-EC73 and SW-E10) Preview

Bracing is often left out or skimped on not because of incompetence but because of budget. However in Axiom's case they used to claim less bracing was better to lower the panel resonance but I'm sure that story has changed since the prices of their speakers have gone substantially up over the...

Pioneer Atmos Speakers (SP-EFS73/SP-EBS73L/SP-EC73 and SW-E10) Preview

Regular DTS is superior to regular DD b/c it uses less compression and has better stereo separation for the surround channels. Only when Dolby TrueHD came out did Dolby finally admit that compression was bad. I can't even listen to an old concert recorded in DD but my old DTS concerts like...

Pioneer Atmos Speakers (SP-EFS73/SP-EBS73L/SP-EC73 and SW-E10) Preview

Not sure exactly since we're now dealing with more discrete channels than we had with 7.1 TrueHD. I'd imagine it is lossless and more efficient. IMO the Four reasons Dolby Atmos exists: Simplify the production process for sound by having one soundtrack work for all speaker configurations Add...

Agreed to that especially when you've gut guys like JJ Abrams directing films :( I saw Gravity is Atmos and it was very distracting to put it mildly. I hope Atmos movies won't be overdone with the height channels like early DTS DVD's were with the rears.

Pioneer Atmos Speakers (SP-EFS73/SP-EBS73L/SP-EC73 and SW-E10) Preview

Atmos is backwards compatible but it's questionable how much of an improvement there will be listening to Atmos vs TrueHD on a conventional 5.1 or 7.1 surround system. If you want to do a single pair of height channels they have to be located middle of the room which is a bit odd. You can't...

Thanks for contributing to this thread Chris. While I can understand the need to offer a more compatible form factor to propel a new technology like Atmos into the consumer market, firing a driver on top of a speaker aimed at the ceiling will ALWAYS be a compromise to having a discrete speaker...
