Is my room too small for the Wharfedale Diamond 9.5?

Unless, of course, you live in an apartment.

The implication being that if I see somebody looking at my ankle while holding a ball and chain, I turn tail and run while I have the chance!

Hey, I am single, and luck had nothing to do with it!:p

LOL. Very true. Those monitors that I love listening to are butt-ugly.

Looking for an entry-level 2.0 setup for music.

I have just found a buyer for my B&W 705s. Why? Because, to my ears, a $200 pair of studio monitors outperforms them. Go to a musician's store and audition some monitors before buying something else. You may be glad you did.

Top 10 Guitar Players all genres

I did mention him earlier. I agree that he is one of the truly great players. His solo acoustic performances on Fleetwood Mac's The Dance DVD will convince anyone.

Is my room too small for the Wharfedale Diamond 9.5?

I have Def Tech BP10s (and BP8s) in a 10' sq room. They look huge, but sound great.

    B&W 705 pair, black ash

One pair B&W 705's in black ash. Less than a year old, and mint condition (nonsmoker, no pets, no kids.) $700+ shipping (in UPS packaging, I don't have the boxes), or pick them up in Oklahoma City. PM me if interested.

Is paying $4,000 for a pair of speakers with one tweeter worth it?, confused

Never. One tweeter is always enough.

    what's the point in 6.1, 7.1, 9.1 surround sound?

This thread got me thinking about something: A center channel anchors the dialog for an off-axis listener, but what about everything else? The mains and surrounds essentialy act as two (or more) stereo pairs, and stereo imaging is generally not good when seated off-axis. Is this really an issue...

Is paying $4,000 for a pair of speakers with one tweeter worth it?, confused

Except for multidirectional speakers (eg Def Tech bipolars), very few speakers at any price have multiple tweeters. One of the only exceptions I can think of is the Macintosh towers. (FWIW I have heard several speakers costing over $4000/pr, but none that struck me as being worth that much.)

    How to pick music

I have found that I either have to load my changer with all older CDs or all recent ones. If I mix them up, and I turn up the volume enough to enjoy one of the older ones, then when it changes to a new one it is excessively loud. The difference between average levels of 20 year old CDs and...

20 Albums You Should Own, But Probably Don't

My favorite Rush album was Caress of Steel, which came in-between Fly By Night and 2112. My favorite Queen was Queen II, especially "The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke". I agree with all of your other choices except Oasis, who I never liked at all.

Should we have more cd player reviews on audioholics -poll and discussion

When it comes to sound quality, a CD player is a CD player IMO. The only real differences are in areas such as build quality and convenience features.

Recording studio monitors vs HT speakers

Maybe that is why I enjoy mine as much as I do. I always listen sitting in the sweet spot, always sit still and concentrate on the sound (often with eyes closed), and rarely have guests. On those occasions when I do have guests, I allow each of them a turn in the "captain's chair".

    Rare Earth Magnets

It really comes down to this: A speaker system is just that, a system. You cannot change one part in a system without accounting for its effect on all of the other parts.
