I have never been much into listening to songs as singles. I prefer to listen to an album all the way through. Some bands are still geared to that, but it is less common than it once was.

Now I am starting to get it. You like catchy, irresistable riffs and hooks. Interestingly, I was just thinking last night about how few bands do that these days, when it used to be the norm. Among my all-time favorite riffs are Miss America by Styx, Cat Scratch Fever by Ted Nugent, Barracuda...

I pefer to let at least a year elapse between two viewings of any given DVD. That is why I have several hundred (possibly over 1,000 by now.):)

Tool are very good. They were even invited to tour with King Crimson, a major honor for any band.:cool:

In that case, none of the ones on my list even come close to matching that description. In fact, all have a widely varying sound as well as good musicianship. Are you dismissing them after listening to 30 second clips, or something?:confused:

I must not understand the meaning of "donna donna donna" as you are using it. To me, that describes the sound of heavy/headbanging rock.

I find standard DVD picture quality excellent, and more than good enough for the vast majority of movies. Only a small handful of exceptionally visually-oriented titles (eg Fifth Element, Planet earth) seem like they would really gain much. Someday, when the idiotic format war has been settled...

What good are the HD formats when there are very few new releases worth having (regardless of format)? Replacing an existing collection of older DVDs with HD is not likely to be a popular move.

When I attack Bose, it is because I have heard their speakers utterly blown away by competitor's speakers costing less than half as much.

I prefer the exact opposite. Not only did I paint the bezel on my TV flat black, but the wall behind it as well (I am not getting my deposit back!) I also have the windows blocked off to eliminate ambient light. I like the screen to be the only visible object in the room.:)

Not that long ago, I remember buying as many as 10 new release DVDs a month. Now I am lucky to find 1 or 2 that I want.:(

It is a well-established format, with the best known examples being Sonny & Cher and The Captain & Tenille. A female vocalist with a male instrumentalist. It is still going strong today. Ones that I like include: BitterSweet, The Fiery Furnaces, Goldfrapp, Vas, and Luna. Any other good ones...
