$40 a pair Omnipolar Surrounds - Similar to Mirage Nanostat Surrounds

    1) Since these are clones of Mirage Nanosats, which have good FR, why wouldn't these? 2) There is no bass to localize, since they only extend to 135Hz. 3) Those who wish to destroy their eardrums by blasting their system at "reference" levels need to buy more expensive speakers. (this is akin to...

    Hi End HTIB

Youch! Waaaay too expensive for my budget. (Besides, buying an expensive CD player is a complete waste of money, as it won't sound any better than a cheap one.)

Mirage Omni 150 first impressions Got the Mirage Omni 150s last night. They do produce impressive bass for their (tiny!) size, but I haven't decided if it is enough bass to satisfy me in absolute terms. If not, I could always get the 350s. They are very inefficient, so a beefy amp is required...

Triangle Galaxy 5.1's currently available on EBAY - CHEAP!

You say $399 is the starting bid? That doesn't mean it is the final bid. If that were the "buy it now" price, it would be a different story.

    Hi End HTIB

Yes, that is what I was thinking of. I love small speakers that sound big. By the same token, I would also enjoy small electronic components that sound big. For this reason, I have considered the Emotiva BPA-1 (or even the Sonic Super T-Amp.) The problem is finding a small (but home quality...

Anyone listen to anything like this?

I am in favor of it. Any more votes for banning Waffle?:D

    Best Speakers for Integra electronics

Agree 100% Buy whatever speakers sound good to you. The only time electronics are a factor is if the speakers present an unusual load (very low impedance, for example), and then it is a matter of the amp havng sufficient power.

Anyone seen Vudu in HD yet?

    What is Vudu?

    Internet Addiction Camp Opens

Having grown up long before the internet existed, I could certainly do without it. I enjoy having it, though. I particularly like being able to buy things that I cannot find locally.

    Internet Addiction Camp Opens

I used to worry about that, but I have gotten a raise in each of the 3 years I have worked here so far. My job is sufficiently boring that I would probably quit without a way to get away from it several times a day.

    Santa Clause 3

I liked the first one, but not enough to watch the second one.

    Athena F2.2, C1.2, R1.2

For HT I bought BP10s (front) and BP8s (surround.) If I had it to do again, I would probably have BP8s in front also. I enjoy the BP8s for stereo music, but lately I find myself preferrring my KRK ST6 monitors over everything else I have tried (even with their limited bass.)

    Hi End HTIB

I am surprised that DVD/receiver combinations like the NAD are not much more common than they are (a CD/integrated amp combo would be even better.) It seems to me like an item that would be quite popular, and that a lot of companies would make. If I wanted to replace my CD player and 2-channel...

    Athena F2.2, C1.2, R1.2

Marketing is the only thing that those brands have in common. Def Tech makes great sounding speakers. Bose speakers totally suck.

Axiom vs Totem vs Definitive for HT

It is a tough comparison to make. Being bipolar, the Def Techs sound fundamentally different than either of the others.

I still have a pair of Athena F1s (in storage at my parent's house.) They sound quite good for the price.

A surprising result... While waiting for the Mirages to arrive, I decided to spend a few days listening to my KRK monitors (the idea being to make the transition from comparably-sized speakers rather than floorstanders.) To my surprise, I prefer them to the Polk Monitor 50s in every respect...

Was Dylan The Best Lyricist Of All Time?

The best lyricist I have heard recently is Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes.) He is that rare songwriter whose words are as impressive on paper as they are set to music.

Anyone listen to anything like this?

The most brutal thing I have ever heard was Dillinger Escape Plan. I bought their CD on a whim, and did not like it.
