Voting On Tuesday ?
I was done with this until the provocative claim was made that Reagan was a "great" president and somehow worthy of honoring. This is like a slap in the face to those of us who know better. He seemed like a nice enough guy, and I would have been happy to meet him on a social occasion, but let's...

Oh, I get it, you are one of those who imagines Reagan had something to do with the fall of the Soviet Union just because that decades-long process happened to end during his administration. You might as well give me credit for the sun rising, then.

What???!!!:confused::eek::confused: Reagan was the third-worst president in US history, right below Bush and Nixon! His so-called "trickle-down" economics caused the homeless population to increase by several orders of magnitude. It was also obvious from his actions that he already had...

NAD C715 and TEAC CR-H227i-B Same thing??
Listened to the micro Onk + Mirage again last night. I conluded that the incredible imaging makes up for the minor deficiencies in bass and dynamics compared to the Athenas. As a bonus, the system is exquisitely beautiful, with the speakers being modern sculpture worthy of Brancusi.

Horn tweeters V.S. aluminum dome tweeters
The only horn tweeters that I have experience with are in Klipsch speakers. I find them bright, harsh, and generally unpleasant to listen to.

Onkyo Reliabilty
My Onkyo CD changer has been operating without even the most trivial of glitches for over four years now. That is pretty impressive for something with so many moving parts.

Yes, it was insured. I may have voided any claim when I decided to open it for repairs, however. Not sure it is worth worrying about for the $130 total (including shipping) that I paid. In any event, I am happy enough with the micro-Onk that I may use it as my primary source (that or go back to...

Piano players/singers.
You are not seriously suggesting that this is the first you have heard of Nina Simone? That is the jazz equivalent of just now discovering Elvis!

Is your Bonus check going into your system?
Agreed. I will enjoy getting it (kind of like a birthday present), but it will neither have a substantial impact on the economy nor make me approve of the current administration.

B&W or Canton Karats
As long as the amplification is not obviously deficient in some way, this is unlikely to have any audible impact on SQ.

I tried the Carver CDP, and the ****ing drawer wouldn't open! I decided to try repairing it, but couldn't identify the problem. I reassembled it this morning, and now, for some mysterious reason, it works. Out of curiosity, I will try listening to it tonight, but now I can never trust it enough...

Denon sound is too pitchy, fix?
Correct. Oh, and that was an incredibly basic question, not AP level at all.

No, I was too young for one war and too old for the next one. My father, who served in Korea, feels exactly the same as I do, however. Yes, I vote against Republicans. I contribute to this country as much as any working stiff, by doing my job well.

Cheap Old Bookshelves
While I would never consider CVs for any sort of critical listening, I agree that they would be good enough for a workshop.

Back during the last war that it made any sense for the US to be involved in at all, namely WWII, that was true.

Attacking the entire country of Iraq because of the actions of a small terrorist group makes about as much sense as someone attacking the US because of the actions of some local militia. Why was there not a surgical strike targeting those responsible, instead?

You are suggesting that the war is an attempt to eradicate Islam by force? Come on, not even the Shrub is stupid enough to imagine that that is possible. No, the war has never been about anything other than oil.

Synergy
If the day ever comes when I can afford to spend a big chunk (as in >3K) on a new 2-channel system all at once, I might consider a one-brand system. This is as much for aesthetics as sound. Rega CD players are overpriced, but this is counterbalanced by their integrated amps and speakers being...
