I was afraid you thought something ridiculous like that. Man, you really have it bad.:(

Why are separates so much more expensive?
Why would you use a 7-channel power amp with a 2-channel preamp?

What are you teaching your kids (Music wise)
I suggest exposing them to music you hate and pretending to like it. That way, when they rebel (as every generation does), they will listen to things you do like.:D

Thank you, that is exacly what I was going to say. Talking into thin air and imagining that there is a "god" listening is one thing. When you hear him answer, you have real issues.

How do you have a relationship with someone who has been dead for over 2000 years? That is similar to having a relationship with a purely fictitious character (eg Harry Potter.)

The speakers will be Mirage Omni 350s (89db.) It is their small size (for floorstanders) and elegant looks that make me want better looking electronics. If I were to get NAD, it would be the 315BEE and 515BEE or the L54 DVD receiver. If I get Cambridge, it would be the 340A and 340C. I had...

That is a similar unit. Yes, I do have the model number right. It is about half the price of either the NAD or Cambridge CD/integrated pair, and offers 50 watts to their 40. If it sounds as good as it looks, it might be the way to go. (They also make a unit with CD instead of DVD for $50 less...

I am going nuts (a short trip for me) trying to decide between 1) keeping what I have because it sounds great even though it is ugly, 2) getting the TEAC, or 3) getting a matched set from either NAD or Cambridge for exactly the same price. Option 1 is what someone with common sense would do...

What are you currently reading?
I am currently re-reading the first 6 Harry Potter books to refresh my memory before reading the final one. After that, I have a huge Harlan Ellison anthology.

It is unfortunate that Einstein, who was brilliant in so many other ways, nonetheless believed in all that religious BS. Even worse, he was far from unique in that regard. (A lot of otherwise intelligent people buy into that garbage.)

Why are separates so much more expensive?
Um, a lot of people use high powered amps without making any changes in their electrical system. Subwoofers, in particular, often have much greater than 200 watts (some of the mini-subs have several thousand!)

Has anyone heard it? Is it a high quality product? I have considered it as a replacement option for my CDP+amp because I love the compact size.

Revisiting old speaks...
My first good speakers ("good" as in not a rack system or boombox) were Boston A60s. I loved them, everyone who heard them was impressed, and I still miss them sometimes.

Why are separates so much more expensive?
My point was to ask why there is nothing in-between. How about a preamp that costs less than the entry-level integrated? That seems pretty easy to do. Or how about 40wpc separates for (say) 50% more total than the equivalent integrated?

Why am I compelled to buy more gear?
My Onkyo CD player has the same Wolfson DAC as the Cambridge 540C, and comparable specs. My integrated is a classic Carver that would be tough to beat except by separates. In spite of this, I am seriously considering the Cambridge 340C/340A combo. Why? Because they look really nice (especially...

Why am I compelled to buy more gear?
If I could change my ways long enough to save for the next 2-3 years, instead of always spending it when I get it, no telling how awesome a system I could end up with! Its a sickness!

Why am I compelled to buy more gear?
I feel your pain. I gave one receiver and a pair of speakers to my brother in order to upgrade, then later gave him another pair and upgraded his speakers after that. I gave a complete stereo system (speakers, sub, receiver, CD player) to my best freind and replaced them with all new stuff. I...
