    Going to Mars

The biggest issue to me is psychological. How can the astronauts be cooped up together in that tiny capsule for such an immensely long time without going insane and/or killing each other? As for the long-tem plan (colonization), I don't think we have the right to colonize another planet until...

    Supreme Court & Second Amendment

The one certainty in all this is that I would feel far safer in a society where nobody has guns than a society where many people do.

Attention span ruined by TV on DVD

I have decided that the way for me to get through a movie is to split it into two nights. Of course, it has to be interesting enough that I want to finish it the second night.

Blu-ray QUICKLY gaining DVD market share

Don't know where you live, but it sure isn't here! I definitely couldn't afford any TV series season sets on BD, and that is what I find myself preferring to movies lately.

    HEMP TONE speakers!!!

That depends on what you do with the hemp.:D

    Mordaunt Short and Wharfedale

It is unfortunate that I am not able to try the kit. Unlike a finished speaker, it would be impossible to get my money back after the sloppy, amateurish job of building them that I would inevitably do.:o I am going to give my Mirages another chance tonight. One thing I have not tried is...

    Mordaunt Short and Wharfedale

Obviously, I can't be sure. The reviews merely make it seem like a strong possibility. Now that B&M stores are almost extinct, I will take the only route that remains and try them for 30 days. It is actually quite conceivable that the S30s will turn out to be my final speakers. (They will be if...

And the winner is... ...ACI Sapphire XLs. At $1700/pr, these will take a minimum of 4 months to save up for (though the tax rebate may shorten that.) Based on the reviews I have read, however, they could turn out to be the last speakers I ever buy.

Attention span ruined by TV on DVD

Million Dollar Baby. I only watch one episode per night (if I want to watch a while longer, I watch a bit of a concert or documentary.)

Same driver size, same cabinet size, same configuration (even to the point of including the slight cutout at the buttom of the tweeter plate), same -3dB point, same "minimalist" crossover philosophy, same price. The quality of the Cambridge components (designed by them from the ground up)...

Attention span ruined by TV on DVD

I have several TV series on DVD that I really enjoy, and my parents have several others that I borrow a season at a time. As a result, this is the bulk of what I have been watching for the last year or more. Last night, I tried a good full-length movie and couldn't sit through it. (At a time...

    Getting started on classical

If I buy any more clasical CDs at all, that will be one of them.

Online, from a place called Wild West Electronics (close to me, but no B&M store.) MSRP is $260/pr but they were on sale for $220. Based on the sound, most people would guess closer to $1000.

Which speaker company do you think has the biggest "fan boys"

It is hard to imagine any thread with "fanboys" in the title remaining civil for long.:D (Once someone mentioned Blose, all bets were off.)

    Sound for bedroom

I can't vouch for how the Cambridge stuff will perform for games, but it is awesome for music.

Which speaker company do you think has the biggest "fan boys"

Since nobody (even him) is actually stupid enough to believe what he wrote, that is the only explanation.

    Supreme Court & Second Amendment

Yeah. We'd better do that before some teenager steals the bucket from his parent's closet, takes it to school, and drowns several of his classmates and teachers in it.

towers with the loudest bass under 900$

Those look like Klipsch clones. Very definitley get them from someplace with a 30 day return policy, as you might be among those of us who can't stand the Klipsch sound (and these by extension.)

    DACs; quality and sound

It is my understanding that even the absolute top-of-the-line DACs are trivially cheap compared to the unit as a whole (ranging from a few cents to a dollar or so.) Using them, therefore, should not effect the price at all. The cost is in the analog circuitry.

Which speaker company do you think has the biggest "fan boys"

So do Blose speakers, so it is an appropriate term. A Coby HTiB would sound better than Bose, and you would only be out $100 instead of $2000.
