Another lie?

I recently read the following in a letter to the editor of Home Theater Magazine April 2004 pg. 24 as stated by Mark Peterson concerning the internal wiring of speakers, when asked about the small diameter sizes used inside cabinets. What's Inside Counts ..,"Inside...

    I've got one Nad !

Actually I made a typo in all my excitement it is the NAD 2200 model Stereo Power Amplifier not the 2900. There is for all intensive purposes a manufacturing flaw on many of these models that causes it to be flaky, but I've figured how to permanently fix it, so it can be...

    Yamahaholics

I've not had much experience with Yamaha receivers. The ones I have had experience with were more of the mid priced models. I never liked that they had the cheap spring clip speaker connections for the rear channels, while other brands in the same price range usually...

    Speaking of audio snobs

I think many of us have to remember that we are much more educated about audio than the general public. There are many, many people who have absolutely no clue about audio systems including people that work at boutiques and regular mass market chains and if you were to try...

    Basic surround positioning question

Here's a novel idea. How bout try both and see which sounds best in your room. Have a partner move the speakers as you listen, then find the ideal spot based on what sounds best to you.

    The sound of Amps.

Dynamic headroom bears far to little attention in reviews and purchasing decisions among the masses. Amps which have lower headroom cannot in my opinion produce sound as accurately as those with a generous amount of it. During accute transitions in music and movies many...

    I need your recommendations..please.

I want the flexibility of seperates. I already have a receiver that compares well with most of the ones often suggested here. Primarily I'm looking for "bang for the buck" used stereo amps around $ 250 that would probably cost 2 to 3 times as much new. I'm...

    I need your recommendations..please.

I need your help. I'll soon be reworking my HT system. I'll be buying several stereo amps and I'm also considering purchasing a new receiver or prepro. Here are the criteria for each. Amps: Used, well regarded 2 channel at 100-150 WPC into 8 ohm Somewhat commonly...

Good news! Online Speaker Company Faceoff comingup

I think this is a very fair way to test the limits of how far the money can be stretched and love the idea. This isn't the type of review consumers are accustomed to, so I can understand any angst. Though ultimately I know that if a $450/pr of bookshelf speaker sounded...

Pro Amps...exactly why or why not?

Mudcat can you tell us more about your setup? Are you using 5.1 system with a passive sub? Are your amps rack mounted? Where are they from your listening position? Are they in a closet? Did you buy the amps new or used? What made you decide on the Alesis beyond the lack of...

    5.1 -vs- 6.1 -vs- 7.1

I think the most important thing to consider is where your preference lies: movies or music. I enjoy a 7.1 setup. Even in a small room it can noticeably enrich the movie watching experience. If I were to put a dollar amount on the increased enjoyability I'd say it would be...

    NAD 2200 2-channel Amp

These amps were made around 1984 I believe. I'd like to hear anyones opinon on this amp. I have heard that they have problems due to poor solder joints on the output relays but otherwise are a terrific value if you can find one. Are the mid 80's NAD products as good or...

    Outlaw Audio M200

The M-200 is worth every penny. I have three of them being used for my R, L, C Channels. It offers nice clean output with a slightly laid back feel. They are 18lbs of muscle apiece. Amps are really Outlaw's strong suit. Good luck with your sub.
