Umm, some of Blu-ray's best releases are Mpeg-2. But Sony has now abandoned Mpeg-2 for Mpeg-4 AVC. Their last 4 releases have all been AVC. They will only use Mpeg-2 for concerts and such for the time being.

Don't get me wrong, I love the PS3, but I've been itching for a standalone for a long time. I didn't expect a full blown 1080p machine at that price point from Sony. Many thanks for that.

The 1016 doesn't accept audio. It just passes it through to your display.

Now, one is powered, the other is passive. Given two models (say 20-39), are they the same sub excluding the power amp? For example, I wonder why someone would prefer a passive sub over a powered one?
