Gauntlet Thrown: Yamaha RX V663. HDMI 1.3, Dolby True HD, DTS Master, $549.99.

Another thing about this receiver is the WAF. The scene buttons are a godsend. No more "how do I turn this on?"

Assuming the new Emotiva LMC2 is in my rack...

Umm, it is what it is. Pre-pros don't come this cheap, let alone with the features the LMC2 comes with. Combine it with a good amp, and this "entry level" combo will outclass flagship models.

Assuming the new Emotiva LMC2 is in my rack...

This is going to be THE entry level Pre/pro for this year. Not only does it do audio via 4 HDMI ports, but it decodes True HD and DTS MA. It has the Genesis Torino processor that should be very good.

Yamaha RX-V663BL 7.1-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver $399

The 1016 cannot do audio over HDMI. That is its main flaw. Other than that, it's a great receiver.

I'm not Patnshan, but I can answer your questions since I own the 6060 (661). 1. Nope. Universal crossover. 2. Yes. Of course. This is pretty much a standard on any new receiver. 3. I wouldn't try it. If you have only 2 speakers, then yea. But if you're running 5, then no. If you...

Latest Xbox 360 Blu-ray Rumor Stinks

I agree. And I think the reason is actually quite obvious. It cannot be done on the 360, because the geniuses at Microsoft released several million bare bones "Arcade" 360s with no hard-drive. Blu-ray 2.0 Live (which the PS3 will get) requires 1gb or persistent memory. This is something the...

Oppo next to create a Blu-ray player!

The reason Oppo players were cheap, was because at the time of their first player (970?) DVD technology was pretty much fully mature. Blu-ray costs and technology isn't there yet. To expect Oppo to deliver a quality blu-ray player that decodes True HD and DTS MA, along with SACD, DVD-A...

    Pioneer VSX-1017TXV-K

Are you using HDMI for audio? That receiver doesn't accept audio. It just passes it through to your tv.

Quality of Impact Acoustic speaker cables.

Good price. I moved my stuff to another room and was going to make new cables using Canare 4S11, but saw these at the audioholics store for $13. I would need about 3 10 footers for the front stage. Anyone own them? What kind of interconnect are they? Any bigger pics somewhere?

AVRs that support HDMI Audio Multichannel PCM (MPCM) and/or HBR Bitstream Decoders

Unless Onkyo can come up with something good, the Yamaha 663 will clean house with the sales. I think the Yamaha will be the go to choice for a receiver. Similar to the Pioneer 1015 was in 2005.

Gauntlet Thrown: Yamaha RX V663. HDMI 1.3, Dolby True HD, DTS Master, $549.99.

If I'm not mistaken, the LMC-2 has the Genessis processor, which is comparable to the Reon, so if your display doesn't upscale/downscale well, then that's something to consider. Plus, the LMC-2 will certainly sound better than this Yamaha.

Gauntlet Thrown: Yamaha RX V663. HDMI 1.3, Dolby True HD, DTS Master, $549.99.

Not at all, it's a business decision, forcing people to buy higher end models. It's the same reason why Pioneer stopped the Drop down door on the 1016, 1017, and 1018. The 1015 was immensely popular, cutting into sales of the Elite line. Think about it, if a smaller company like Onkyo wa...

Gauntlet Thrown: Yamaha RX V663. HDMI 1.3, Dolby True HD, DTS Master, $549.99.

What are you talking about? What Marantz has True HD and DTS MA and street at $500?

    emotiva seperates or onkyo 805

You are entitled to your opinion as I am of mine. I have listened to the Denon 788 in my room and it is clearly superior to the Yamaha in every way - particularly for music. It is a no brainer which sounds better if you compare them head to head. Particularly with my Energy speakers. The...

    emotiva seperates or onkyo 805

Dude, I'm regretting buying the Yamaha 6060. It is attrocious for music. Almost no soundstage to speak of. I tried the Denon 788 for a few days and it was head and shoulders above Yamaha. Must be the preamp section as they seemed to produce similar volume.

Final Decision Advice: EMO LMC2 or Elite

I want the LMC-2. Can't wait until first impressions from people before plunging in. Anyone have any idea how the Genesis chip compares to the Reon?
