    Suggestions please

The C-Notes are supposed to be excellent speakers - for less than the BR-1's. (Someone on another forum has built them.) https://www.parts-express.com/c-note-mt-bookshelf-speaker-kit-pair-with-knock-down-cabinets--300-7140

    Desktop Speaker Recommendations

I'm on a budget and have limited space. I can't be buying a bunch of speakers (or even buying them and selling them). They aren't quite a good as my RAAL/ Revelator Philharmonitors but they're not too far away in direct comparison. We're talking about those drivers alone being almost $1000 for...

    Desktop Speaker Recommendations

+1 Do you still have any of those old speakers? None of those that you are considering I don't think will be better than the JBL305's which I have. I inserted a few dowels inside (two lateral, one vertical) to reduce the bass vibrations from the cheap cabinets at louder levels. The bass was far...

    Please recommend L/C/R speakers

I would go with Salk. You can talk with Jim and he will have designs that would work for you. For example, front-ported speakers appropriate for those cubby holes.

JBL LSR305 monitors... what do ya'll think of them?

1/2" should do. Some other audiophile said he never used anything less than 3/4" thick.

JBL LSR305 monitors... what do ya'll think of them?

The clay, I bought this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019QZMQQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As for pictures, only of it taken slightly apart - not really useful. I took it apart and added the clay to the woofer basket (most of it) and around the port tube which...

JBL LSR305 monitors... what do ya'll think of them?

I forgot to add, I also added a thin layer of non-drying clay to port tube. Remove the three screws to pull them off once the back is removed and then on the outside of it which is tucked back into the cabinet.

JBL LSR305 monitors... what do ya'll think of them?

As I did, go to the hardware store, buy a dowel - a single yard - cut into appropriate lengths and brace the sides and top to bottom. (I just wedged them in.) I also bought non-drying clay and coated the metal baskets of the woofers. Gets rid of the muddy bass and makes them much better. The...

Testing whether the speakers work as intended?

A long time ago, I took my old decent stereo out to the woods where there was a small stage with electrical outlets. I set my stereo out there (the old ADS L810 speakers) and my system sounded great out there!

    $2000/pr Floorstanders

Well in my case (assuming some other audiophiles feel the same), there are certain sound qualities that people can tolerate or not tolerate at whatever price level. For me, I generally need a speaker that gently rolls off their highs and upper midrange because I can't tolerate harshness in those...
