300GB Discs by the end of year 2006

It'll be interesting to see what shakes out in the market. I'm not sure either of the HD DVD formats will be successful.

Movies you were supposed to like, but didn't

I'm surprised no one listed Lost in Translation. This was a bit amusing, but c'mon it was nothing close to the hype that surrounded it. I think if it had a different director it would have gone largely unoticed. How about American Beauty. Again there was so much hype that this was the next...

    Internet only brands

I don't have a distrust of internet-only brands. They make good sense since the savings is passed on to the consumer by cutting out the middle man. Of course I always do my research before buying any product regardless of where it is purchased. If these internet-only vendors had inferior...

    Internet only brands

Like it or not the internet is the future for consumers; that goes double for audio purchases. Traditional audio stores have been dropping like flies the last few years. They just can't compete. The internet is the only viable alternative. I hope more manufacturers get on board soon.

    Tweeter got tweaked

Well...I understand where you're coming from, but the item you were looking at doesn't cost all that much. I'm always looking for a deal and usually won't buy until I find it, but I think a person's got to be reasonable. Let's start with $1,000 just to throw out a number. I would expect a deal...

    Buttkicker LFE Kit

You could, but you wouldn't get an amp capable of 2100 watts into 2 ohms and you definitely wouldn't even approach the experience you get with a Buttkicker for just $200 more.

    Buttkicker LFE Kit

I wouldn't have taken it as rude. Anyway, using the shakers is really something you've got to try in order to understand. Once you have them you'll never want to be without them. In my setup I've upgraded everything many times over in recent years, the biggest impact on my system are the...

    Dealer Snobbery....

I've dealt with my fair share of snobbery in these stores. I hate it, but lets face facts, people in this hobby are generally snobs - myself included (Bose anyone?). I remember many, many years ago we had a great shop in the area. These guys had a great selection of stuff, which included Def...

    What constitutes 'High-end'?

Yeah, I don't think loud has anything to do with high-end. If you want loud you could get a fairly cheap DJ setup and blow out an eardrum, but it's not even close to quality sound.

How loud do you listen to your system

Well I used to turn the amp up to 10, but then I got an amp that went to 11. :D

    any feedback on accessories4less.com

Many years ago I bought a Marantz B stock CD player dirt cheap. It came well packed and without a blemish on it. Still works like new.

Star Wars 3 Revenge of the Sith

That's really it in a nutshell. Those few of us who participate on forums like this are usually looking to upgrade at the drop of a hat, but the public majority will not see a need to upgrade. Same thing happened with DVD-A and SACD - sure there are some improvements, but the MP3-loving public...

Star Wars 3 Revenge of the Sith

How many people are planning to do the same thing? I'm not so confident that the hi-def DVD formats will be as successful as many of us might hope.

Star Wars 3 Revenge of the Sith

Yes, Hitchhiker's is a very bad movie. I loved the books and had to see the movie in the theaters. The first half of the movie was very true to the spirit of the book, but it just totally falls apart after that. I left the theater thinking I had just totally wasted my time and money. So then I...

Star Wars 3 Revenge of the Sith

I'm really not sure what you're talking about when you say you feel the need to change the crossover setting to 50hz. I've never heard of anyone doing that before. Why don't you just temporarily turn the sub volume down? Anyway, having said that, the movie does have some bass to it, but I don't...

Polk Audio - What are your experiences?

I love it when I'm absolutely sure I've double-checked my posts, only to find out later something was amiss.

Polk Audio - What are your experiences?

It's a bit hard to follow what you're saying in your post Sheep, but regardless, your post helps illustrate why it is so useless for people to start threads like this one. This whole hobby is subjective in absolutely every aspect and one man's trash is another's treasure.

Polk Audio - What are your experiences?

The audio world is really no different from everything else; there is an ebb and flow to everything. Brands like Polk used to be much higher up the food chain then they currently are now. Does that mean they're a bad or low quality speaker? Certainly not. I believe they represent a good bargain...

    Read The Damn Manual!!

The easy quip is to yell at someone to read the f-ing manual; the problem is reading some of these manuals. I don't know about most of the people on this forum, but the days of me owning a simple two-channel setup are long, long gone. In those days there was nothing difficult to understand and...

Home Theater Systems VS. Music Systems

Personally I've never bought into the whole HT system vs. Music system. If a link in your system's chain doesn't perform well under certain conditions it's a weak link regardless.
