Didja like what I did there? :D

Seriously, the minimum is going up from $25 to $35. See linky here.

Still better than a lot of other places like Parts Express that I think is still $99 and Griots Garage which recently went up to $125.

The answer is Prime :D

All the more reason to switch to prime. Between the free two day shipping on many items and the free streaming, it's a no brainer for me.

Since I'm back in school, I get the student discount of 50% off for Prime.

Suckers :D

Actually, with that being said, the only credentials that I needed to prove that I'm a student was to activate through my .edu email. Some of you teachers might be able to weasel your way into that discount too.

The lame thing about having a student prime account (I have one too) is that you can't add family members like you can on the normal prime.

Yes, prime may be the answer but only if you do a lot of shopping over the year for orders less than $25 or now $35. And, not everything is covered by prime; sure an awful lot are but not everything.

I could have the student membership if I wanted, but I have other people on my account, so the full membership is worth it.

I order a lot through Amazon, so for me it's worth it. I also take into account the speed of the free shipping and two day is pretty nice, especially when about 1/3 to half of my orders end up being 1 day. I think one of the biggest reasons it makes sense to me is that I don't make a lot of trips to Kingston, which is the next town over and where 80% of the shopping options are for people in my town. Outside of hardware and groceries, you really have to go to Kingston for everything else. I'd rather order it and use that saved time for other stuff. YMMV.

You don't really need to do a LOT of shopping for it to pay for itself, and it isn't just free shipping, it is free 2 day shipping. The standard free shipping, depending on the items, is not usually 2 day shipping.

This might be splitting hairs. So far, it's been both free and two days. But, yes, when it comes down to it I can always find another CD or Blu-Ray I could "use" to up my order to $35.

Yeah. It pays for itself after just a couple orders.

I just checked, and I've made 263 orders so far this year. Prime is easily worth it for me :D

At the moment, I don't see an advantage for me. I've never ordered anything that I needed in two days. I just wait until my order is over $25.

You're well ahead of me. I'm only at 117, but I bet we're nowhere near the master coughAdamcough. :p

If you use it as an alternative to going to the store, then timeframe can have an influence.

If you are buying big ticket items, then shipping is still free regardlless, and yes, I started with Amazon by always adding a CD/DVD etc... to hit the $25 now $35. That's actually is part of their plan, just like most B&M stores :) (sale on something that will get you in the store and while you're there...) So you spend more with them for that, but that's fine if you don't order often. I never really thought much about free 2 days shipping until I ordered a few things from other places and having to wait 5 days for something to show up started to get tiresome LOL. The first thing I look at on an Amazon item is the shipping if it isn't Prime, and if the free shipping with Prime doesn't apply, the over $35 won't apply either.

Yes, travel time and gas to another town to buy is a good reason to perhaps use Prime. It becomes relative to an individual's usage and preference.

I am waiting to get the transporters invented for almost instant delivery. Two days or even one is too slow. ;) :D

I just don't shop that much, I guess. 95% of what I buy from Amazon would be CD's & BDs, and I don't buy enough of them to justify Prime. But, for anyone who does a lot of shopping online, it's probably worth it.
