Victorious1, If you are still pissed about Eric not drilling grill holes on your m-lores when I ordered my speakers last week Daniel the production manager at Tekton said they are working on velcro grills for all their speakers.

I would flip out if I spent more than $100 and the speakers had anything made of velcro on them... My lores have no holes, the grills are made so well that they just stay there and hang on the drivers lip... Nice and snug fit, and I can have them with or without grills now...

Speakers http://www.cinepro.com/reviews/HTM-EVO2-May05Review.pdf are ready and paid for. Have to wait till first or second week of of next month to pick them up. It's just too hard to get away from my job right now. These will peel the paint of the walls that's for sure. So please bring your earplugs just to play it safe.
"The EVO-2 L/R's listening-window response measures +1.04/-5.57 dB 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The -3dB point is at 59 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.23 ohms at 96 Hz. Sensitivity is 89 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz."

Not that you have to worry about the 3 ohms impedance w/ your arc welder amps. :D

But even if you didn't have those powerful amps, I guess setting the XO to 100Hz would allow the subs to handle the low impedance.

From 3m, to reach 100dBC per speaker would require 113 watts. To reach 105dBC per speaker would require 358 watts.

LOL yeah right no one is using velcro for speaker that cost that much.

You're joking about the Velcro, right? :D

The grilles would fall off in a few weeks. :D

Dirt cheap speakers from Walmart have better attached-grilles than Tekton's revolutionary Velcro. :D

Hey, thats what he said... I guess its just better to have one made in velcro than not have one at all. In most cases, it seems like the owners need it because they got pets and children running around the house. for protecting the drivers, I think itll do the job.

Hey ImcLoud, I asked you on the other thread but I guess you didnt read the thread so I wanted to ask you again here...

You said that you feel like 2 subs would be the way to go, (2.2).. that 2 subs will smoother out the response alot better. I was just wondering, since I am willing to get another sub besides the one I already ordered, do you think its worth it to buy another sub and run two subs? Will the extra sub offer enough frequency fix to shell out another $500?

Also, do you think it is better to buy a two Hsu VTF 2.4 over one VTF -15H in a 13 x 13 x 10 room? thanks.

You should probably get what you've already ordered before you try tweaking it.

Sounds like a plan. BTW fuzz, when I get the Tekton sub that hits 18hz in I am gonna do the measurements and post it up here. I have NO IDEA how to do it so I am gonna have to ask you for your advice alot. I think I'm the first one that's getting a 12' tekton sub.

Also, my friend bought a Lore-S as well. I think rocky is going to put up the enzo measurements, and when he gets the Lore-S in, I'll put up the measurements for the Lore-S. I have no idea how to do measurements, again. Hope you can help later, thanks bud.

Did you do that with just 2 speakers, or with the entire system? I'm getting 106dbC from 12 feet, no room gain, no subs, and about 100 watts. With what Walter's amps can do, he'll probably be somewhere the neighborhood of 120+dbC peak or more. I think his neighbors are too afraid to complain because if he opens his door they might get blown away by the air pressure buildup inside.

I don't know of any 12" sub, except maybe the HT sub that was announced awhile ago, unless there is another one. The newest sub that there has been any information about is an 18", not a 12".

If the 12" sub is the HT sub then it certainly won't be hitting 18hz with much impact. Unless it's a different sub, F10 is like 27hz. No bueno. Even though you didn't get the speakers that this measurement is also showing, at 1/3 smoothing they do not look tempting at all.

On a partially related note, the smoothing on this graph is 1/3 and I see no reason why any other graph he has posted would be any different unless otherwise stated.

Like this graph of the Uruz. It doesn't look great and if it is 1/3 smoothed, then yikes.

Manufacturer comments about the Uruz:

Here’s what the URUZ promises to deliver:

  • Superior frequency response linearity +/-3dB (competitors design is +/-10dB variance)

If and when you get the speakers and measuring equipment, we can make that happen.

Yeah the 12' sub is going to be a custom job made for HT. He did mention he is going to trade extension for deepness somewhat. It's $550.00 with shipping I belive which is about the price of the Hsu VTF 2.4.

Yep, so once I get all my equipment in, maybe you can tell me what measurement devices I need to pick up. (cheap but accurate would be nice)

extension for deepness
That's like saying you're going to trade a car that will last a long time for one with high reliability. Do you mean output instead of extension?

Based on some of the other measurements he has provided for his other designs, they won't be extremely accurate.

I remember he said exactly that. He said he will trade extension for deepness.

Convo was like this somewhat..

Me: So I realize that the enzos do not go below 35hz and I am mostly HT so I would lke a custom sub thats 12' because my room is only 13 x 13 x10 that hits 18hz..

Eric: Yeah we currently have one in the works going for $500..

Me: So its gonna go pretty low to 18hz?

Eric: Yeah we're gonna trade extension for deepness..

Which makes zero. Fan or detractor of Tekton and their products aside, that makes zero sense. I know I would be disconcerted if the designer of speakers I was buying told me that. At that point it leaves you wondering if he misspoke, lacks the vocabulary to describe what he means, or the worst option, has no idea with he's talking about.

I should also point out that any reasonably designed subwoofer can hit 18hz. At what output is a different story. With low distortion is another. That won't have any negative thermal related issues when you're giving it a drubbing is another.
