Yep, so once I get all my equipment in, maybe you can tell me what measurement devices I need to pick up. (cheap but accurate would be nice)
Cheapest would simply be a calibrated usb mic and free REW software.

A little more cost but a bit less intimidating to use are the Dayton Omnimic or xtz Room Analyzer.

If you have a processor that will take correction files, make sure to choose measurement equip/software appropriately (the older Dayton could not create any sort of correction files to export, they were strictly measuring devices; that may have changed with current iterations of the product).

Yeah I agree bro.. but I m just saying because the oweners who have already bought them have no idea when they will actually get the grills..so there is an option atleast.

Not really. That kit and just about any kit or grill option involves drilling into the speaker and ruining the finish Especially if done by a novice woodworker. Besides, any manufacturer who custom builds their speakers, but doesn't do magnet grills is just lazy IMO. Sure they take more effort, but it's so simple and keeps the front baffle nice and clean looking. I don't think it's too much to ask for a little extra effort after shelling out thousands.

Did you do that with just 2 speakers, or with the entire system? I'm getting 106dbC from 12 feet, no room gain, no subs, and about 100 watts. With what Walter's amps can do, he'll probably be somewhere the neighborhood of 120+dbC peak or more. I think his neighbors are too afraid to complain because if he opens his door they might get blown away by the air pressure buildup inside.
Just ONE speaker. :D

Distance 3m, SEN 89dB, Headroom 0dB.

Amplifier Power Required Calculator

2 speakers playing simultaneously would increase SPL by 3dBC. Subs would additonally increase SPL substantially with bass-heavy music.

Hey ImcLoud, I asked you on the other thread but I guess you didnt read the thread so I wanted to ask you again here...

You said that you feel like 2 subs would be the way to go, (2.2).. that 2 subs will smoother out the response alot better. I was just wondering, since I am willing to get another sub besides the one I already ordered, do you think its worth it to buy another sub and run two subs? Will the extra sub offer enough frequency fix to shell out another $500?

Also, do you think it is better to buy a two Hsu VTF 2.4 over one VTF -15H in a 13 x 13 x 10 room? thanks.
This is for HT? I am not as critical with HT as I am with music, but 2 subs In my experience smooths it out and makes placement and setup much easier... Plus I notice with the dual subs I can set the levels on the sub amps around 35% where with a single I had it around 95%.... Dual is the way to go, BUT, $500 sounds like a Passive sub, so if you are going to need an amp for it I would wait until you know what you need..

The more the merrier. :)

Almost every song I listen to sounds so much better now with seven subs. :D

This was posted on AVSForum by a guy who did not reciever grills for a whole year (LOL).

I know I am the minority on this site as most folks want to just praise how great these speakers are and how happy they are with the new toy. I understand as I was his biggest fan....If you look way back in these post you will see lots of folks standing behind Tekton when the grill issue started. I think some think Eric is doing us a favor by selling us a set of speakers.

Not knocking his product as they do sound good but lets put this in perspective as I estimated his cost in parts to build the Pendragons

6 Sb Acoustics tweeters @ $60.30 ea $361.80
4 Eminence 10" drivers @ $129.99 ea $519.96
4 crossover inductors @ $3.20 ea $ 12.80
6 Dayton caps @ $5.49 ea $ 32.94
4 resistors @ $1.25 $ 5.00
Wood and paint
I have no idea but lets say
$250.00

TOTAL $1182.50

List price of $2,500
- parts of $1182.50

Net $1317.50

I know this does not include labor and I am just taking an educated guess on the parts prices but looks like he is doubling his money on every speaker. Noting wrong with that as I at one time understood Bose had $6 in a $319 set of 301's but I can't move my product with those kind of get rich margins....

My point is why do we owe him anything but our $2,500? He is being well paid IMO and we deserve the same customer service as you get when buying those China products!

If you note on his Pengragon advertisement in his blog section it says " it's not just about the sound. It's all about the sound!

Well, he has that right as it sure as hell is not about customer service!

Sorry guys don't want to bring you down but my grill issue will be 1 year in 4 days....I am very P.O.'d at Tekton! We don't need yanks getting behind someone that is simply not doing the right thing! We need yanks standing together and demanding he deliver what people pay for!

Kind of sad as Eric alone could turn this form around in a few days! This form could be his best free advertisement. Instead he is busy developing a new sub or something...He needs to make some dang grills and make some people happy and save his company or at the least his image.

It really baffles me how some guys go to this extent to troll on a bussiness.. I mean listing part costs? c'mon man...

Actually if he got those part costs off the internet they would be off since a company buys in bulk and thus pays even less.

I hardly call sharing a negative experience, one in which he is well over a year without a promised product trolling. I would call that fair warning to all those considering Tekton.

Hi all ! I went from Maggies and thiel's to the standard Lore . They are very dynamic ,effortless and musical . I bought them based on threads in this and other forums . Have had them for about 8 mos and my speaker and system search is over .

I ordered a pair of Tekton Lore S speakers in mahogany finish. I waited about 3 months, and received them 3 weeks ago. I sold a pair of Goldenear Triton 2 speakers, and was without music for almost the entire time I waited. I don't know why I sold the Goldenears because they are fantastic speakers. I read about the Tektons, and got caught up in the hype. I'm always searching for something different, and a little better. Maybe if I took the wax out of my ears, I would hear something I did't hear before too. Anyway, I set up the Tektons. I am using a Core Audio Kratos all digital amp, the same amp I used for the Triton 2. I play all of my music trough a modified Mac Mini. I was very disappointed with the sound. The Trition 2 was better in every way. Don't get me wrong, the Lore S sounded ok, but the Triton 2, blew them away. I was having some buyers remorse, and played the the Lore S sparingly. Realizing that they were not broken in, I left the Lore S playing 24-7 for about a week. What a difference that made. Unbelievable. Bass, slam, clarity, imaging, and sound stage really opened up. More importantly, they are the livest sounding speakers I ever heard. Better that the Triton 2? Yes. Not in the bass department, but everything else is better. I added a subwoofer, and turned it up just a little to fill in the bottom octaves. OMG. Is there better? Possibly, but i'm guessing that I would have to shell out a ridiculous amount of money to even reach the level of what I am hearing. I've been into this stupid hobby for way too long, however, I never sat down and listened to music the way I am now. Truly amazing.

Pretty obvious what the issue with the review below is. Glaringly obvious I would say.

Troll a manufacturer? I'm puzzled by why one would support a manufacturer that has stiffed people.

So, to your other post, we have a situation where a person got used to the peculiarities of their new purchase.

LOL Chu Gai, your like a audio field marshall for the consumers protection laws. That is hillarious.

I probably wouldn't offer grills for a speaker, but if I did no way I'm charging people for them that's silly.

If you order a speaker with a grill and only get the speaker, you got stiffed even if you get your money back. Imagine if it were the reverse and you got the grill without the speaker and were given the money back for the speaker. What on earth would you do with just a grill?
