If cables are made of quality materials with no defects there are virtually no difference in sound when it comes to speaker wire of the sage gauge. As long as the cables you buy aren't crap, then you're good. If you hear a difference between two cables, there is something wrong with one of them.

No difference for me but if others hear it that is ok too. As everyone seems to hear a little different.

The best I came up with (without going higher end stuff) is buy a decent Amplifier, PreAmp, speakers you like and quality cables (made well and will last but does not have to be expensive) and just enjoy your system. In the above I class Emotiva amps, Pre, dacs up there. But I am sure there are many many brands that will work just as well.
I really like the Tekton speakers as you do not need big amps to make them work well. Unlike the Maggies I have that sound better with some weight behind them.

I did buy quite a few of those cheap cables a few years ago from monoprice (all RCA's) but I have had no luck with them. They seem to break down on me after a while. Bad connections inside etc.

I'm going with the Emotiva UMC-200 preaamp/XPA-200 Amp. The walnut enzo's with multiple drivers in black look badass without grills..

The 10 gauge Emotiva 3m. X-series speaker cables are going for 59.99 for a pair (1 speaker). Here is the description.

Solid brass machined ends with 3 micron thick gold plating.
Dual-twisted, 10 gauge, high strand count oxygen-free copper conductors.
Strand Count: 455 x 2.
Interchangeable tips: banana plugs or spades (4 of each included with every cable).
Diecast, non-ferrous metal alloy breakout collar for added support.
Nylon braided anti-scuff jacket over PVC outer insulator.

Do you think its worth it? If only the thickness of the wires make the most difference I can get a 10 gauge speaker wire for like $5.00 at monoprice..

A new review of the Tekton Pendragons.

tekton pendragon loudspeakers

"The Pendragon easily sets a new benchmark for performance at this price. I can't think of another speaker that can perform anywhere near this level for $2.5k. If I had to guess the Pendragon's cost based on looks and performance I would have said ~$9K. If Eric had added a few accoutrements (grills, fancy logo, some really nice spikes, etc.) that figure could easily have been ~$12-15K."...

The 3m Pair is going for $39.99 and that would be for 2 speakers. Worth a shot at that price as they look well made.
I might have to get some of there RCA cables next time I make a order as they look to be well made to.

It ultimately depends on several factors.

1. How much bass do you like? Does the Phil3 or Salon2 have all the bass you will ever want?
2. How great are the monitors?
3. How great are the subs?

On a few occasions throughout the party, I threw everyone out of the front parlor so I could show off the sound system and my juke box, so you are welcome to come, Im not sure if you could get a quiet room to setup a mic to do measurements but your ears are welcome, although my tektons are in my bedroom and that is 100ft from the party so most likely quiet...
Do you all live up in the northeast? I'm looking to roadtrip up there next year maybe.

A fact free review from people who give high marks to $2k cables "after they have been given some time to open up". I promised myself I would stay out of this idiotic thread but that just got the better of me.

Thank you. Thank you very much. :D

For high-quality-bass-head freaks like me, the Salon2 alone isn't going to cut it unless I'm listening to Yo-Yo Ma. :D

For most normal nice folks, the Salon2, Orion3, & Phil3 will provide ample bass.

But I ain't normal. No sir!

Indeed. Walter may even have his new system by then, which means you better not forget your ear plugs :p
Speakers http://www.cinepro.com/reviews/HTM-EVO2-May05Review.pdf are ready and paid for. Have to wait till first or second week of of next month to pick them up. It's just too hard to get away from my job right now. These will peel the paint of the walls that's for sure. So please bring your earplugs just to play it safe.

I did not see the X-Series ones. I myself might try there cheaper cables as they look to be made well with nice connectors.

Victorious1, If you are still pissed about Eric not drilling grill holes on your m-lores when I ordered my speakers last week Daniel the production manager at Tekton said they are working on velcro grills for all their speakers.
