Did you read the part where the guy got a ~$300+ discount because of the imperfection and because the veneer had those little knots in it? I'd call that fair trade plus the guy got whatever it was to touch the spot up.

I'd hardly say that's sending a product out with poor quality. Look again, that spot looks to be barely a quarter inch big, if that.
For $2K, I would want perfection. At $300 off for a minor blemish, I would be very happy. Good chance that I would blemish it just moving that beast around to get it out of the box and set up.

The OP was not to bash a particular manuf.

With any product, I expect for the price paid for the product to reflect that.
Any discount to me is not a discount. I'd rather have a full product than a half product. If the chance of even exploring reshipping back, additional downtime, cost and labor involved in both reshipping and receiving - all these are things I'd prefer to avoid from the start. The pics posted look more than just a blemish on my monitor. Not sure if it's just the revels on between the sheets or veneer checking.

To each his own. I think Funk audio's work speaks for itself. Stuff happens, no matter where or who you buy from mistakes and errors will happen. Nathan made good on the error and change what he uses for grill attachments so that this doesn't happen again. To hold this one error as the reason not to buy a funk audio subwoofer, if you were seriously considering one, will only hurt yourself. If you genuinely want a different one, then whatever, this is all mute, but IMO this one instance you've picked out is hardly "receiving half a product" and if you truly want to avoid any problems from the start then the only way to 100% guarantee that is to just not buy anything. Just sayin'

Funk makes excellent subs. So do a lot of other companies. In the words of Forest Gump "$hit happens" True no matter where or who you buy from. I think the reactions to the mistakes tells more about the company then when everything goes perfectly and given how Nathan handled this error I would have no trouble entrusting $2000+ if I was in the market to do so. As always YMMV. Cheers.

I respect that, and I feel the same way. If I wanted a lower quality product for a lesser price, that's what I would have purchased.

That said, I'm not making any specific comment about Funk Audio, as I have zero experience with them or this particular situation.

...this is all mute...

I'm surprised Nathan would even ship the sub if they were nothing less than perfect.

If he did a long time ago, I think it was a mistake he would want to take back.

The dual Funk 18.0 subs I got from Nathan are nothing less than perfection. It should be like. Nothing less.

Look what solid works is doing ;) . How about a dual 2.4kW passively cooled amp, 4800watts total continuous power, 9600watts peak. With full DSP control.
