UtO... ADTG -- Nuance thinks I might be leaning the wrong way into the DT SuperTowers!! Is he right and we are Wrong?

OK, No Offense either, so where do you want to go to [no pun intended], if not Def. Tech. BP7KSC SuperTowers?

Nuance, please read Post #572... I would love your Expert Opinion and an Answer SIR!!

ADTG -- puts those DT's closer to his Revel/KEF's excluding some losses in mid-range details somewhat, but is still kicking himself that he sold his DT7000 and DT7001's. :D

Hopefully, your still not pissed off at me, LOL..., and an Audition Review Thanks would be appreciated like I have thanked you many times... [Laughing]..
No no no - don't take that the wrong way, DPS. He's comparing speakers in the $10,000+ range to ones that are far less money. I was just saying I'd take the Revel's or Orion's over the Def Tech's, but they are a lot more money, so they should be better (and are). If you like the Def Tech's then stick with them.

You know we can't agree on everything.:D

Every room is different. Bipole/dipole/omnipole could be more difficult to place than monopoles.

Everyone who has heard the 7000SC in my room has been extremely impressed. The first thing they all noticed was how crystal clear the sound is. Large and clear.

All I know is, in my room, the 7001/7000 sounded fantastic. The sound is crystal clear. The midrange is detailed, but not as good as the Salon2, 201/2, Orion. The treble is smooth, almost as good as the other 3. I thought the bipolar soundstage is as good as the Orion. Very exciting lifelike sound to me.

I know PENG finds it impossible to believe that I thought the 7001SC sounded better than the 800D.

If DenPureSound is serious about the BP7001SC, he could ask the dealer for an in home audition just in case there is an issue with his room.

But even at the dealer, DenPureSound & his wife both said the BP7001SC sounded great.

That is why I encourage him to audition even more speakers. Only he will know for sure. His decision has to be based on his audition, not what anyone else thinks, right?:D
I think the 800D sounds like poo, so I'm with you, ADTG.:D

I think we all know the midrange is where I focus my attention, and you seem to agree that the Revel's and Orion's provided a more accurate and detailed midrange; that's all I meant. I'd certainly take one of those speakers over the 7001's/7000's. As I mentioned above, though, they cost a lot more money so they had better sound nicer!:)

I know they started production in 2003 on the 7001's, but do not know why they stopped production or why on the BP7001SC's? Am looking into that one. Glockrocks loves his 7001's and he is driving them w/ an EMO amp also. Guess many have EMO amps, and we still love them. :D

Only you will know for sure.

I know how they sound in my mind. I know how they compare to other speakers in my room.

The BP7001 will not measure as nicely as some other monopole speakers, as GranteedEV pointed out. They are like +/-3.5dB. Not any worse than the Klipsch Palladium or B&W 800D.

Honestly, if I had a little over $10K just hanging around -- I would go w/REVEL Salon 2's as well, I am still Jealous of ADTG's funding level -- I might need his BROKER on Wall Street! :D

ADTG - can he/she double down on capital in one year? :)

Boy, those are some Big Bold Boys in that new Avatar!! Heck, I have to be honest w/ya... I am getting excited, last one in stock since production ended couple yrs. ago.

Woodsart, bring it on soon, now what do you want to compare -- must be greater than 75dB though [Laughing and Kidding]?

Nuance -- so what does your brother NOT like about his DT's Seriously?

Yeah... but still has to at least audition one of the, like twenty-five speakers i've asked him to audition!
Geez, you want me to spend ALL my available capital of which there is very little on Gas, and more Gas, and phone calls all over the place -- sooner or later you Pull the Trigger and as they say "S__ or get off the P__" :D Will listen to the DT 8080 as well, there new BP SuperTowers.

I was wondering that as well...

How many of the suggested speakers (in all the threads he asked for suggestions) did he audition?

I am waiting for all the other auditions/reviews to come in from Grant and you. Time, and money is limited here nowadays. :)

We heard the Klipsch, Golden Ears, Aperion, and different models of Def. Tech. Many seem to love Klipsch, and even the newer Golden Ears Triton Twos, and of course, Aperion VGT's... but none of those is the direction we are going. :D

We all hear different things in a speaker -- for sure. Gosh, imagine if we all heard the same thing, we would only have ONE speaker Mfg. in the World, well maybe, but most likely NOT, leaving room for Tekton, FunkyWaves, JTR, Salk, Ascend, Philharmonic Audio, and all the other hundreds of Mfg's. :D

We aren't the ones in the market for new speakers, posting our search on public forums, asking all sorts of questions(and for measurements), making all kinds of remarks, and asking for suggestions. :)

Agreed...which is why I asked if you knew what you were looking for in a speaker or measurements, and others said to go out in listen.

All of that aside....I am glad you finally found something you like. Hope it all works out in the home as well.

I thought it was a mystery but then Grant educated me on the possibility that the 80XD could be more prone (just my interpretation of whatever he said) to the room due to its poor off axis performance. I hope you will go back and listen to the newer version, namely the 800 diamond, not the D. I will audition the DT7000 when opportunity arises.

Looks like 240#'s of Weight -- ah, if the sound is as great as the weight, we will be OK. I am more concerned about to much low end since we already have the duals subs pushing the bottom end. Thank goodness for Low Freq. Gain Knobs which can go to ZERO or as required!

I love auditioning expensive speakers, so any chance I get, I will definitely audition the newer 800 Diamond series.:D

240lbs?

Oh, you mean for the pair of BP7001SC - each one is 120lbs.

Your drunk neighbor  will have to help since those little 60lbs Aperion almost broke your back.:D I can't imagine what 120lbs will do to you!

peng - now that you've given your impressions on the Electra 1028, it's time to go listen to the SM9 and compare the two for our enjoyment. :D
No thanks, too busy at work as always and I have spent too many hours driving and listening already. I think I am done for now, hopefully for at least another 7 years.

I don't know. I'll ask him when I see him next, but he's no audiophile. He has great hearing, but he just doesn't care enough about this stuff to sit and critically listen like some of us do.

Exactly, driving and more driving and more traffic / more gas / more time, new audio shops, more people, different equipment setups, then listening to many different speakers is fun and exciting, but sooner or later one decides when they hear the speakers they want, then hopefully one does not have buyer's remorse.

Ah, but then again there is always Internet Direct (ID), and calling Fed-X to return them, after you repackage the beasts! :D

I would rather spend the time/money driving and flying around if necessary to hear what is out there and make the right choice than play guess and check with just a few choices before I make a decision. If you don't want to travel to a bunch of places, wait for an audio show. CES / THE is a few weeks away. Show conditions are certainly not ideal, but it is much better than nothing.

Taking your time...not rushing, I think, is a key. Have fun with the process. There is A LOT to hear, and along the way is a great learning experience.

The CES and THE shows a lot of fun!
