Its been a few years in the making. This is where I'm at & can honestly say that I am just now getting very satisfiying results! Along the way there was always something in my system that was noticably lacking to me. Within the last year or so i have been fortunate enough to make a hand full of upgrades. While each in itself would make a nice little difference, its been the sum of them thats REALLY transformed my experience!!
Suprisingly one of the most fun buys has been the Earthquake tactile transducer. Its takin action movies to the next level for sure. As far as actual audio quality I'd have to say that the combination, Yamaha RX-A2000/XPA-5, completely unleashed my speakers & makes reference levels very pleasing & exciting!
Ive been looking around at all the other members systems & have to tip my hat off to you all. There are some extremely intense systems posted. Some make me drool & others are a bit silly but i can guarantee they are all very fun to listen to. Thanks to you all that have takin the time to post pics & updates of what you have, they are ALL fun to look at!!

Looks like you have a nice setup. I love your game room. Im still waiting to get some pics of my set up to also show the progress that I have made since being on here. This is a great place to get ideas and also tons of info.

Congrats on your setup Tim... what a nice'n cozy place to be!

Hope you don't mind, but I've enlarged your front setup, for a better viewing.
BTW, I also own the very same B&W setup that you have (685's & HTM-61).

Yeah the fire pit in the gameroom is pretty crazy. Its something you normally see outside to roast marshmellows on haha. I highly doubt that it would pass an inspection nowadays but it was done in the 60's by the original owners. I dig it though. That whole room was an addition. Adds about 600sqft.

Next purchase will probably be a Rega P1 turntable. I have been wanting to get into vinyl for a long time.
Is the Rega P1 recommended as a decent entree level table by most here? Any thoughts or other recommendations?

The house im in was built in the 60's & hadent had ANY remodeling done to it before my wife & I moved in. The Livingroom & Gameroom were the first rooms to get a facelift. The bedrooms have had a basic once over to get us by for now but arent much to speak of. The Bathrooms are pretty jacked up though. So while our place is clean & decent, i have to admit that the 2 rooms in the pic are the best ones! One day in the future ill be proud of the whole thing but hey these things take time.

Its been a little time since my last couple system upgrades. I have sold my dual Earthquake P12 subs & now have an HSU VTF-15h sub up front in the corner behind my right tower & an HSU MBM-12 in the back corner behind my right surround.

Ive always liked the idea of splitting up the bass frequencies to 2 subs. The 12" just hits hard & the 15" really digs deep. I took some measurements & did some EQing to flatten things out. Now i have things set with a house curve because i wasnt really pushing the 15h & it still had a lot left to give so i have the 15h about 3dBs hot (50hz&below). I have my "buttkicker" daisy-chained with my MBM-12 so those 2 really slam you in the chest.

Yes the platforms i was using for those subs were DIY "SubDudes". I have since sold those 2 Earthquake P12s & went with 2 HSU subs but i also built the isolation platforms to be custom sized for them. I found a foam shop not too far from me & used the EXACT same materials Aurelex uses for 40% of the cost. But if you only need 1 platform then the saving isnt as much & you should just buy direct.

Thanks for the compliment! Honest, anytime you like just hit me up for a listen. Last week i had member: CalvinHobbes PM me to come take a listen because he was interested in building a mid-bass-module & wanted to hear mine. We set up a day & hung out for a bit. He brought over some discs & i handed him the controller.

I really need to post some updated photos with the new subs. The VtF-15H makes the P12s look tiny

Got a hair up my butt to lug my VTf-15h around the livingroom & try it nearfield behind my couches. I tried both rear corners. Even after some setting adjustments & EQing i couldnt get it to sound right. Just too boomy. The midbass slam was VERY present but my backroom totally sucked all the low bass out. Ended up just being bad locations for it.

So back to the front of the room it went & kept the MBM in the back. I spent hours measuring, adjusting & EQing. But the end result is 16hz thru 250hz within 2dBs of eachother. That just using the settings & listening modes on the 2 subs & some EQ in the RX-A2000 to bring a couple peaks down.

I had done something similar before but not to this degree. Im suprised at what i had been missing all this time. Needless to say im very excited with the results!! Well worth the time & effort getting my systems low end corrected. I'll never just plop a sub down without properly setting it up again.

Nice recreation room you have. Must be a nice experience there. I looked up your system after talking to you about your praises of the Yam rxa2000 avr and notice that you only use it as a pre/pro. Have you ever used it as a stand alone receiver and when did you switch to a different power amp. What improvements did you notice switching to emotiva for the amp?

Your Lenco 75 TT is mighty nice. Do you use the stock arm or have you modded it for a modern aftermarket arm?

(I want to thank you again for the mic for my older yamaha rxv659 receiver. I've used it many times as I've made small tweaks to my system. It has been indispensable.)
