You said the headphones work; make sure they are unplugged, when you plug them in it disables all the speakers and output jacks.
Do your speaker lights, light up and indicate A, B or both indicating the speakers selected.
Make sure the output is not "muted" indicated by a blinking "mute" indiactor on the front panel.
Make sure tone control is "bypassed".
direct stero will bypass all the units' decoders and DSP processors.
Check the speaker level ( -10dB to + 10 dB) of each speaker.
If memory guard is on and some of the settings are incorrect, you can't change them.
Sometimes you can have problems if the input mode is set to DTS or ANALOG instead of AUTO. This can also happen if the inputm oe is set to ANALOG and the input is actually DTS encoded.
