that other guy has released his dibs. looks like it's going to me.

this new guy that's doing the legal papers says he can do everything within a week.

i'm also paying for the 1911 tomorrow and bringing my wife to the range as well, i didn't want to let her shoot in the backyard when i don't know how she'll react to the gun yet.

Hey Mike, here's some commentary I received:

I believe Colt's Mfg. Co. was formed after M16A1 production ceased. M-16s and M16A1s were marked either Colt's Patent Firearms Mfg. Co. (earlier ones) or Colt Industries, Firearms Division (later). I'm unaware of any Colt markings like this one .As far as I know Colt never marked a rifle "M16" only. They marked them either "AR-15", "M16A1" or "M16A2"
The second is an Elisco Tool. They manufactured M16s for the Phillipines under license from Colt.

The top one looks like a Bushmaster that has had the logo and manufacturer's markings filled in (JB Weld, Bondo, etc.) and Coltish markings engraved over them, then a nice coat of paint to cover it all up. The receiver has the A2 reinforcements, which does not seem consistent with the plain M16 marking. The serial number, caliber, and model markings look like Bushmaster markings. It probably started as a semiautomatic as well. The bottom one is probably stolen Philippine Army property, worth a long, unplanned, travel limited, vacation stay

Well, they've both got the tell-tale 3rd pin.

i think these can do Full Auto ... they weren't
exactly "legal" for civilians ... but made so through 'loose firearm amnesty'.
but should there have been "single" "semi auto" and "full auto" option?

i actually like the carry handle ... but the triangular handguard is what really reminds me of vietnam

here's a close up of the "vietnams"

here's a close up of the nicer one (ignore the Colt markings, it's not a real Colt - them local gunsmiths are professional bootleggers)

at this point, i only care about the looks and not really the convenience of carrying it :) i doubt i would spend money on a scope though. but if i did get the nicer one, i'd like a nicer handguard. otherwise, i'd have to spend some more for a real M4.

i'm not gonna be getting the telescopic stock that i like (since there's no sense in using a telescopic stock for a full length barrel)

the reason i'm compromising on this one is because with this option, i can squeak in a 1911 pistol in the budget :D

what's the 3rd pin?

yup, i knew it wasn't a real Colt (see pic caption), i'm actually more excited today for the 1911 ... at first i didn't like the looks, but it kinda grew on me.

and btw, i managed to handle different brands of 1911's (even China made ones), and US made Glocks ... all of the slides flew so smoothly, there was hardly any effort to move them. my HS' (XD) slide has so much tension that most of the time, i need to use my right hand to chamber a round.

Bushmaster ACR Enhanced

Ordered one after getting some range time with it, very slick package - I really like the ergos of it, very intuitive and nicely balanced, extremely comfortable for me... My buddy has one, coming off his service M4 Carbine loves his, and let me throw a few hundred rounds through it... He's got over 3000 rounds through it and hasn't had any issues...

Tons of good You Tube videos on the machine...

I really like the EoTech XPS-2 HWS, have one mounted on my SIG 522 with MBUS flip-up sights as co-witness - makes for fun shooting and great for plinking at 50-100 yards.
