Speakers and the way they look... it matters.

SQ? SPL? Price?

We have enough threads on that

What do you think are the coolest looking speaker boxes, finishes, and drivers :D

I really like mirror-finish veneers on Nola speakers

And while I'm a fan of the tall badass Dynaudio Master look..:

I would combine that finish with this type of deep transmission line box and those cool subwoofer drivers of the PMC BB5:

but what that still lacks is that cool sense of the speaker totally enveloping you like a Focal Grand Utopia:

And for other drivers I love the way Revel does it... inverted titanium drivers and waveguide tweeters:

and you can't forget a see-through outbound active crossover:

P.S. I think B&W 802s are ugly.

DANNG. I know I could be buried, in at least the first three.;) Not sure I'd like them too much. Maybe if I had a stadium to put them in.

Somehow, though, no one ever seems to properly capture their beauty in a photograph. They look much better in person.

These 3 get my vote for beautiful speakers:

Linkwitz Orion, KEF 207/2, and B&W 800D.:D

I don't like the way the Salk Soundscape 12 looks at all.

I love the sound of the Revel Salon2, but I think the cabinet looks kind of "ordinary" - like a tall skinny speaker.

Sonus Faber?

Salk Sound? This finish is a "standard" not a custom.

It appears GranteedEV prefers the very large look. I personally find the lower lines of Dynaudio to look better than the Masters/Evidences, but iono. Focal Grande Utopias, well, they are just way too large for anything but the hugest of rooms. I've listened to both the Masters and Utopias.

I think BW 8xx series are great, but to me they look like R2D2 or something. I'd still take em don't get me wrong. Linkwitz Orion, while they may represent my biggest missed audition, sexy is not the first word that comes to mind!

He's just insane :D :p . The soundscape 12 is an adorable looking childrens bedroom REFERENCE loudspeaker.

When I see it, I think

"Chugga Chugga Chu CHHUUUU"

I would ask jim salk if making it taller and shallower while keeping dimensions the same would have an effect on performance though. That last little bit of bass cabinet space looks out of place. I'd at least round it over a bit.

Disagree 100%

Orions are beautiful. People just use boring wood finishes from the 70s.

I'm going to make some plexiglass orions one day. Similar to the ones I linked, but with a less dull looking finish on the sides. I like maple type finishes actually, but I think you need a slight bit more pizazz. I really like the bamboo veneer finish on the Funky Waves FW12.x sub that was reviewed last week.

That Sonus Faber and some Vienna Acoustics also look great.

Yeah, the curvy sides on Sonus Fabers is a thing of beauty.

Rather than a speaker, I'd make dining table seats like that though :D

It would give everyone the sense that they're falling.

yeah lol... not quite an "Orion" but pretty close. He added a waveguide tweeter.

But like I said, I'd go with the Funkywaves Brindle finish on the sides.

The Orion is alright from the front, but I just don't consider exposed dynamic driver backs to be very appealing in a living room. Looks like it belongs in a test facility of a scientist or engineer. No way an interior designer will give the thumbs up.

But if we are playing let's choose their ugliest speaker now, how's this for Linkwitz? It costs $6000 a pair?

lets be fair to the plutos... it is an ~800 dollar diy design at its core and easy to woodwork.

the professional veraions also look better than that:

My vote for ugliest speaker goes to this childrens room...thing
