The term "nuclear" here is used quite loosely. Nuclear fusion and nuclear fission are completely different reactions.

What you should be worried about is the tards building fission reactors in their backyard sheds. Oh, it's happened.

Yea, I'd rather have a fusion reactor then a fission reactor nearby lol. One of my professors told me that he and his buddies were planning on building a nuclear fission reactor for their house. They never got around to it lol.

He has a phd in nuclear science and engineering, so it wouldve definitely been possible.

I'm sure plenty of people have, but it's useless without Plutonium or something else which is very difficult to get.

Ah the Nuclear Boyscout. I ready about this in Harpers Weekly better than a decade ago. He recently (accidentally) radioactively poisoned himself.
