I watched the Texas Rangers beat the Rays 5-1 this afternoon. Cliff Lee pitched 7 strong innings with some bullpen help, but the guy he was traded for Roy Halladay, pitched a complete game one hitter and just missed a perfect game in his first post season start with the Phillies...woowhoo:D. Fwiw...I'll be rooting hard for the Phillies this post seson...because of Halladay and I'll cheer for any team that beats the dreaded Yankees this post season...:p

Any baseball fans out there...:D

Being a Cards fan and a baseball fan in general, its really easy to root against the Yankees, so go Twins!

That said, its not really easy to root for the Phils, but damn.. .how can anybody beat them in a series...???

Phils v Rangers.. Phils in 5...

Love this time of year...

I'd not be so sure. The Rangers are a stacked team capable of putting up runs and they have some decent pitching now. Still if the Rangers make it that far I will be in glee.

I didn't see the game, but I thought I read that Halladay tossed a no-no. :D

The Rangers are a great team... I see them winning the AL. They just can't beat the Phillies. I personally think that the Phil's are the best team hands down and they're peaking at the right time. They are beatable, just not four times in seven games.

Wasn't Kyle Drabek the main guy in the Halladay deal for the jays in the 3 way? I forgot what other players were involved besides Cliff Lee. Drabek pitched a few games at the end of the season and it looked like he still needed a lot of work. Not sold on him as of yet.

Halladay is the man. I hope he gets a championship this year. Best pitcher to ever play the game IMO.

Some nice games on yesterday. I DVR'ed all of them. Texas looked good beating the slumping Rays. But then again, all 3 of the other AL teams have been in a slump lately. Texas looks like the team to beat there. Don't mind me while I cheer on the Yankees though. They are still the champs until someone takes it from them.
The Phillies with Halladay look like the team of destiny this post season though. Anything can happen, but short of the sky openning up and lightning striking, I don't see them loosing.

I'm a long suffering Ranger fan. IIRC, before this year, the Rangers have exactly one post season win in their history. And I'm not talking about a playoff series win - I mean they have won only one playoff game in franchise history.

Each year Texas accidentally made it into the playoffs, the Yankees were waiting to quickly make mince-meat of them. I hate the Yankees. I don't think the Rangers are capable of beating the Yankees. It will make history if the Rangers manage to advance to the LCS. And IMO, the only way the Rangers have a prayer of making it to the WCS is if the Twins knock out the Yankees.

As a wise man once said: "Go Twins!"

Did I mention I hate the freaking Yankees?

Cliff Lee can shut down the Yankees so they certainly have a chance.

Only if he started every game. See ya in NY and just remember Lee is already thinking about next year when he can become a Yankee.

On other notes: Damn the Rays are dysfunctional and the Twins are just going through the motions.

Where's Sawz at??? Rob? Where's my Philly sports Bro at?

Phils 2-0!

Last nights game was a little bit of a wake up call for the Phils. It won't be easy.
I am here now, I had some higher callings to answer to but all is well, Go Phillies !! I would like to clarify the very first post of this thread, Halladay did not pitch a one hitter complete game he pitched a NO hit complete game , only the second time ever in playoff history, we can not sell him short from such a remarkable performance :)

Shock only takes in a baseball game when it is all you can eat hot dog day at the Rogers Centre.

Not so sure Texas makes it. Looking like Yanks Phillies 2. Tampa Bay could also crash the party. Do they even follow baseball up in Canada? Or just look at Florida hockey with derision.
