Tonights matchup should be a dandy. Cliff Lee looks to equal a MLB post season record by going 8-0 and faces Tim Lincecum. The Phillies just couldn't get that timely hit throughout NLCS and basically played station to station baseball looking for the big inning....the Rangers on the other hand resemble more your typical NL team because they manufacture runs by playing small ball and doing whatever it takes to score a run...Ron Washington has that team playing IMO the best basball of this post season, so lets go TEXAS...wooo whooo I hate the Yankees....:D

BTW....just for the record the Jays were 7-3 vs the Rangers...I sure wish we played in the AL Central or West....:p

Oh no you didn't!

As far as I'm concerned, Nolan Ryan bashing should be as taboo as political and religious comments ..... maybe more so. :)
LOL! Let's just hope the Rangers can keep solvent and pay their players and other debts. I was very impressed with their performance in the post season. Same with the Giants. I'm just wondering if hitting will trump pitching in the series?

Normally pitching trumps hitting. I see Lee and Lincecum splitting the two games they pitch. Then the Giants will win the rest.

I hope it doesn't. I think pitching is subjectively the most beautiful thing about the game, if it does very unbeautiful things to the athletes' anatomy. It also keeps the games at a reasonable length of time (I know football is the longest game of the major sports, but there are so many baseball games in a year). I know hitting is the hardest thing to do in sports, but I prefer good pitching. :)

Gratuitous tangential opinion: They can't implement an automated strike zone fast enough. However, I would bet that games would be longer, with greater offensive numbers, but it is an easy compromise for me to swallow when it makes the game more fair.

Well, if we're to believe in Bill James's method of evaluation, the Giants should win in a short series.

I think not. I hope not.

I believe that the Giants were fortunate to get past the Phillies, while the Rangers dominated those freaking Yankees.

Offensively, the Rangers get the nod. Starting pitching, I think again goes to the Rangers. Defense? Hell if I know. But Vladimir Guerrero playing right scares the hell out of me. That brings us to the bull pen. The Ranger's bull pen has been scarier than Vlad in right.

I predict the Rangers in 7.

I know there's a few more innings left, but how's that working out for you, James?!

Crash and burn?
For a baseball fan such as yourself, I really think you'll find the book, Moneyball, a fascinating read. But yup, crash & burn. Only so many hits in a bat and so many strikes in an arm and yesterday it all caught up with Texas. I was really looking for a bug eyed shot of Nolan Ryan but if it was there, I missed it.

I think there was a quick shot of him in the 8th that was funny. This one is good too though.

They sure are looking like the old Rangers..... Can't see em coming back from a 2-0 hole considering they had used their best 2 pichers and got crushed!

Stranger things have happened, but I'll be pulling for our ex-sister-team.
