So last night one of Carolyn's co-worker's husband called her cell and said he wanted to talk to me about stereos. I had met them twice in the past, once about a year ago at happy hour and then they came to a party at our house about 3 months ago.

When I asked how I could help him, he asked if I knew what 708.com was? I said no. He said 4:05 MF.

The rest of the conversation went something like this:

Me: I don't really understand what you are saying

Him: You know you called my wife at 4:05

Me: I don't really know your wife or her number and I go to bed at 10pm. Are you sure you meant to call me about this?

Him: I know who you are MF and you are sleeping with my wife. It was 4:05 pm. I will take care of this and you will get it.

Me: You are so far off of base and I have no idea what you are talking about

Him: I have her phone bugged and I have a recording of you talking to her and your phone number. I am trying to be discreet so your wife doesn't hear about this.

Me: WOW, my wife has already heard as I called her over to listen as soon as you started acting like an idiot. If you want the 4 of us to meet and listen to the recording and try to figure out what's going on, I am good with that. What number was your wife called from because if you have my number it seems like you would call me and not my wife.

Him: F U...I will get you

Me: If you want to act like an adult we can continue to talk, I have no idea what you are talking about but let's figure it out

Him: I will take care of you

Me: I am tired of your threats, do you need me to call the police?

Him: hangs up phone

So I tell my wife all the details and she said he has had issues with another guy they work with and she thinks he is crazy.

She calls him and says:

Her: Joel, why are you calling my husband and acting like that. He doesn't really know you or your wife and he never does anything outside of his character

Him: Are you f'ing stupid you dumb B, they are sleeping with each other

Her: You are way off base, my husband doesn't even really talk to people outside of his work. I can tell you exactly where he is 24 hours a day.

Him: F U, I will take care of this

Her: You need to figure this out and not involve us, we are not part of whatever is going on

Him: FU...hangs up

You might want to get the authorities invoved since threats were made/implied.

Or, since he's done this to other co-workers of your wife, maybe his place of work should know about this, but this could be tricky.

If he makes any kind of threats, report them to the police...and since texas has a one-party consent law to recording conversations, as long as you are a participant, you can record them without informing the other party.

So then my wife calls his wife and tells her what happened, she just acts normal and says she will talk to him when he gets home.

My wife then calls her boss and asks if she talked to his wife at work today. She said yes, she came to my office at 4:15 and was upset because G called her cell phone and was acting inappropriate, C said that is not something G would ever do and her boss said I know. The 3 of us (my wife, his wife and the boss) will meet in the morning.

My wife then called his wife back and this time she was acting crazy and said that I had called her. She said how did the conversation go?

His wife: who is this

The guy who called: guess

His wife: I have no idea

The guy who called: my wife works with you

His wife: C?

The guy who called: yes

His wife: so it's G

The guy who called: yes

His wife: Oh...what's going on, are you trying to surprise C with something

The guy who called: I want to know if you are in an open marriage

His wife: what are you talking about

The guy who called: can you keep secrets

His wife: I am not comfortable with this, I am hanging up

His wife: hangs up and goes to her boss

So we both had trouble sleeping last night. She gets up and says she is not going to work. I say you are going and meeting with your boss and protecting my integrity and the integrity of our marriage.

She agreed.

So the 3 of them meet for 2.5 hours this morning. At first his wife was very defensive and says she knows it was me that called her. My wife reminded her that she has never really even talked to me besides saying "hi" and "bye" the 2 times we met.

My wife also said that I was willing to take a lie decector test or have the recording analyzed by the firm of their choice on my dime so we could figure this out. She said that he would never release the recording.

She then broke out a story that her husband has it in for me because when we were leaving the happy hour, 1 year ago, I hugged her "bye" which is typical me. He hired a PI after that at 3k/mo to watch her and she thinks that they came up with a plan that involved me to try to catch her doing something. She says he tells her all the time that he thinks she is messing around with me. She also said that he told her to tell us he is sorry and he just wanted to forget about it.

Weird that they came over to my party after that but he just set in a chair and didn't talk to anyone and turned down drinks each time I asked him. I bet he just wanted to know where I lived. (I have a picture of him just setting there all night if you want to see it)

After the meeting, his wife met mine in the parking lot and said please forgive me, Joel just has a lot of issues. I don't want to lose a friend over this and mine said "too late", .

The boss either fired her then or she quit, I'm not sure of that yet as my wife isn't home yet.

I'm sure my buddy will run him and if anything shows up, he will take him in. I have seen it before.
