just bought a new bag yesterday ... i think it's common for photography hobbyists to have one too many bags ...

i have:
Lowepro Toploader Pro 75 - for one gripped body + one long lens (or two short ones) + small flash

Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home v.2 - this can actually fit two gripped bodies with lenses but becomes to heavy for the shoulder, so i plan on using it from now on for one body + two flashes.

Tamrac Pro 8 - i don't know what this is for, i traded my Tamrac Velocity 10x for this one. i'll sell it soon.

Lowepro Primus - my travel backpack. can carry my tripod, jackets, extra stuff + one body, some lenses and a flash

Thinktank Streetwalker Pro - my new bag! this is supposed to carry two bodies and tons of camera stuff for me

all i need now is a bag smaller than the Lowepro toploader pro 75 for the times i carry a non-gripped body with no flash.

there's a 50-500 OS, with your plane photography, how many non-keepers do you get with your 50-500? what's the normal shutter speed you use for those jets and stuff.

As long as I can shoot, 320 sec or higher at 500mm, hand held isn't a problem, generally. As for a keeper ratio, it depends, but now trying to adjust for the new D300s. Haven't been able to get to many shows either.

This one was actually shot @ 200th/sec @500mm

wow. i tried the 50-500 non-OS in store ... and i couldn't hold it still at 500 even if my life depended on it and that was with full frame ... you'd be tipping 750mm angle of view with your d300s.

Received my travel mug today from Hong Kong. The 17-70mm lens on the left is for reference, my 70-300 is on lone to someone. Comes with a little lens bag too.

Nice pics guys.... OK I have to ask, what is the latest and greatest camera's out there now, or have there not been any new groundbreaking D-SLR's to come to market at this point. Not looking to break the bank here, but not wanting the cheapest of the cheap. I really need to get a decent camera - tired of looking at my crappy pics that I post....

We bought the sugar mamas dad a D90 and he is thrilled with it... comes up with some great photos....

if you want to stick with Nikon. wait for the upcoming Nikon D7000 (it's the new D90)

for canon, the 7D, 5DII or 1D mark IV depending on how much "extra" money you have

I was looking around on the web, no mention of price on the upcoming D7000.... any ideas on this....

I see the D90 was getting some steep discounts as well... Obviously the big money is always in the higher quality lenses which I wouldn't cheap out on either...

Speaking of buying older camera models - old doesn't mean bad. D90 Body has internal AF motor = It means it support TONS of old AF Lens made for Nikon SLR cameras and they are much cheaper than new "digital" ones...
If you don't care about fancy (and often not needed) features.

I got D40 a year and half ago and I still don't use 100% of it's features In good photo 90% is skill and creativity and 10% is camera..
I seen some amazing shots done with cheapest cameras..., but DSLR is definitely the way to go

I may just pull the trigger on something like the D90, it is a very good camera, and will be leaps and bounds above the freakin point and shoots Ive had over the years....

Always said I would move to a nice D-SLR but held off for the better units to hit the market many years back. Well needless to say they have been out for quite some time now.

Who wants to post up some links for good places to buy... and suggested lenses....
