As much as I agree with all these posts, if anyone actually remembers, Chris managed to seriously hurt himself a while ago, which is why he was not seen for a while. Looking at how he describes it, I am not surprised that he has not done any work on these speakers to be honest. Perhaps he was just a bit too preoccupied to contact Randy.

To all of those that this my concern:

I am sorry for the lack of any communication via email, PMs or any posts on this board in the last week or so.

Through my clumsiness, I managed to totally incapacitate my right shoulder/arm/hand. I fell into a door jam, fractured my shoulder, broke blood vessels, caused various tissue damage and what not and today is actually the first day in which my arm did not hurt so much as to lift it up to type on my keyboard.

I should be back on the forums regularly shortly.

Thanks in advance for understanding.

-Chris

The date that was posted was on 05-14-2010. From following this thread, the speakers were WELL overdue any reasonable time frame before this incident occurred.

Its not the first slagging us Canadians took today. We are pretty bad at soccer according to the German head coach.

"If you don’t move around the pitch, you’re not even going to beat teams like Canada!" :D
I noticed that as well. That said, he picked the right team to mock...:D

Since this cams from a post dated 4/30/2009 and it appears to reference a past due date issue, does that mean they were due in November, 2008?

If that's the case, that would make them about 20 months overdue...
Yes, that is correct.

Have you ever asked for a full refund at any point during this fiasco?
I am pretty sure he doesn't have the money. The last I heard he was waiting for his income tax refund to get the veneer. I think he spent the up-front money. He also has an amp that I let him borrow that i asked for back and he said he wants to buy but won't have the money for 45-60 days. Sigh. I think I might as well go the legal route as suggested by Chu.

Another thing to take from this is don't buy into forum hype - be it ideas, people, products or companies.
Well said, although I have never had a problem before. I don't excuse my own error though.

So if there are no dates, he has until forever to build the speakers? An honorable man would have refunded the money long ago. Speakers that are two years in the making? Puhleese. At minimum, he should send the materials to Randy along with the remainder of the 5K (5K less materials cost) and write all the labor off to a poor decision to build speakers without the proper workshop/time and expertise. In my view, there is no other choice at this point.
There are dates, a contract, etc. It has been so many excuses and there has been some progress, but at some point, you have to draw the line.

I was REALLY REALLY hoping that this wasn't a case of mis-allocated funds on his part, but it seems that this was the case. Inexcusable. No different than stealing in my book. He would have had to find another "sucker" to finish your speakers. What a shame.

None of my business but was that per his request or that you really trusted him:(?
His request. Frankly, it bothered me that he wanted a contract. I have bought speakers from Salk and never had a contract. The 100% up front also bothered me, but at that time I did trust him and to be honest it was because of the forum and his knowledge.

Yep, that's the strange thing, Chris likes contracts. I had to sign one on a $70design he did for me.

There was even a clause that he had to reimburse certain monies for each day the design was late.

It was a little late but neither one of us mentioned it.

Hold on everybody. Chris isn't a thief and he didn't plot to deceive. 100% up front on this deal covers little more than the material and gear. His inability to estimate how long something takes has cost him time but has benefited others. His speaker side jobs aren't money makers so much as they are reputation builders. There was no intent to bilk anybody. Something else is the problem.

AH has done what they could to support Randy and to send everybody a message about their stand which I personally support. It might serve to light a fire under Chris' @ss which might help Randy's cause. There are some extenuating circumstances here that have led to the prolonged delays but Randy's position of being done with this is certainly understandable.

That's all anybody here outside of Matt and Randy needs to know.

Go Matt, Go Randy, Go AH and most of all GO CHRIS !!! ;)
