Well then we might as well close this thread....
exactly what I was thinking all along.

I guess implying that he is a "thief" is perhaps a little unfair, but the fact that he would take on a substantial project without the necessary resources is at least morally irresponsible to the point of dishonesty. Certainly his intention of building for reputation backfired.

Yep, that's the strange thing, Chris likes contracts. I had to sign one on a $70design he did for me.

There was even a clause that he had to reimburse certain monies for each day the design was late.

It was a little late but neither one of us mentioned it.
Contracts or Rules are not necessarily sacred, principles are.

Maybe we could leave it to let Randy keep us updated and to let other members have a place to show Randy their support and to encourage Chris to make this right.

Even if it doesn't work out all nice nice there should be a public reckoning of this now public debacle. Give Randy room. He's working. The main thing is that Randy doesn't croak ... at least not before he tells us what he thinks of these speakers. :)

His request. Frankly, it bothered me that he wanted a contract. I have bought speakers from Salk and never had a contract. The 100% up front also bothered me, but at that time I did trust him and to be honest it was because of the forum and his knowledge.
In retrospect, it was probably a good thing for you that he did want a contract.

I hope he gets those speakers completed for you tout de suite, as legal action is not likely to make either of you completely satisfied. But, when push comes to shove, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.....

I don't think Chris is a thief. I am working toward not croaking!:) Let's give Chris some time to reflect and work and I will be back to you as progress does or does not happen.

Out of curiosity, how many speakers was WmAX made for members here and what are their thoughts after having lived with them for a while?

So, do I have this more or less right? Matt34 originally put in an order. He never heard the speakers. He sold his interest to Alex. Alex heard them at WmAX's but the crossover still wasn't dialed in and there was an air leak. Alex never was able to take them home to listen for an extended period of time. He sold his interest to JerryLove, who I believe has/had them in his possession. Hence, there's been all this hype, maybe deserved maybe not, over one pair of speakers that took how long to make and deliver?

It's almost Schifteresque, isn't it?

At this time, this thread is pretty well self-documenting.

And everything that has transpired up to this point is here for everyone to read, if they start from the beginning.

What say we lay off the dog-piling and leave it open but only post new info, not rehash the old. It's already a dark blemish on this forum and there's no reason to keep picking at this wound.

So, let's wait for Randy to make the next post, shall we?

Not to get this thread going again but I forgot to answer your question.

The most expensive thing I have shipped without payment was a 2k sub.

The most expensive thing that was shipped to me without payment was a $1200 amp.

Oppoman sent me 1k for the DIY sub before we were through negotiating.;)

Alex sent me some speaker cable for the heck of it.:D

...and...Highlander sends me all his junk that he doesn't use anymore

I am sure that you have seen my posts on here about treating people fairly in life, those that do this seem to prosper while those that don't seem to live with their mom and dad...

Did you ship $4-5K worth of anything without any payment? If a face-to-face has never happened, I'd be careful, even if a few years of online exchanges have taken place. It's definitely not the way I would like it to be, but the reality is that trust needs to be earned, not given too freely. It's also a matter of scale. If it's a low priced item, no biggie- I have done the same thing although, the last time I took the time to call a manufacturer and ship a car audio crossover, I never saw any kind of thanks, public or private.

I know how hard it is to meet a deadline when other things are happening and/or facilities aren't what I would really like. It was hard enough to admit it to myself that it wasn't going to happen but it can really hard to admit it to the person who's owed whatever it is. Nobody wants to say "I failed" but at some point, it's time to fish or cut bait.

Hopefully, this will be resolved to someone's satisfaction.

Or in prison, like Bernie Madoff.
