Just a question to clarify something that's confusing me.

Sure, a big investment in the mid 4 figures (paid in advance)to build superior speakers (augmented by Yamaha pro amps to be confiured for this-whcih I paid for but is in his posession) with a contract to complete by the end of November (which he insisted on not me) and lots of sorry's. By the way, the moderator who has also contracted with him did not answer my response about this so I held off, but I think it is now time to bring to a head. Gene, where are you-I was a big supporter of you when you started this great web site?
Since this cams from a post dated 4/30/2009 and it appears to reference a past due date issue, does that mean they were due in November, 2008?

If that's the case, that would make them about 20 months overdue...

If you've got time to post, then you've got time to take the project to completion. If your health or weather conditions precludes you from working consistently then it should've precluded you from taking the job on to begin with.

Another thing to take from this is don't buy into forum hype - be it ideas, people, products or companies.

I like Chris and he has helped me many times but this is just crazy. Take his butt to court.

Seriously, I have no life.
I'm not defending anyone and I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes but I have to wonder about the wisdom of paying up front. That's just not a good idea. in any case.

That's a valid point but those of us who have been on here along time should be able to trust each other. I know I have bought and sold a lot of things on here and I have shipped without payment as those whom I have purchased from have done too.

Is that smart?...not likely...but I trust the guys on here and many are good friends of mine even though I have never truly met them.

I recently paid for something up front and it showed up as promised. Then again, it was only $60. I doubt I’d ever pay up front as much as this poor guy did to anyone.

four figures is alot of money, heck even mid three figures is, and i don't know when he began building them, but a year is even a good amount of time, i don't know his schedule etc, but even a year should be plenty of time to complete a project like that, even just working at it for a couple hours on the weekend.

That is a good point. Certainly paying in full up front probably wasn't the best course of action. Perhaps a deposit or something could have been made.

What sucks is that without paying up front, however, the resources necessary to complete the project on Chris' end might not have been available. Catch 22.

Either way... I think since Chris has been banned until resolution, this thread should be locked up. While its his wrongdoing, its not fair to speculate and comment when he's not here own it. I can't even say "defend himself". He has no defense, but we should let it be.

Paying up to 50% or more up front is not out of the norm when dealing with custom work.

Paying up front, which presumably includes a reasonable profit, did not seem to make the necessary resources available to complete the project.

What the....? Sonofa......?

Was I just the victim of a drive by slagging?!

(As I qualify for both categories...)
Its not the first slagging us Canadians took today. We are pretty bad at soccer according to the German head coach.

"If you don’t move around the pitch, you’re not even going to beat teams like Canada!" :D
