What kind of stuff is on them? I thought about buying the set as well.

I am still waiting for them to put up the standard BD version of Anesthetize now that the limited editions have sold out.

The kind of stuff you'd be listening on repeat ! :D

Seriously though, I don't know what you mean. Haven't you heard any of these ?

Basically each CD consists of one cover song and one Steven Wilson original. I particularly love the cover of Abba's song "The Day Before You Came". And partially that's what i ordered the box for...also the last of the cover version series, the sixth one that is, comes in the box too...so basically there are going to be no more such releases.

Oh and the last one is really cryptic (the original SW song) ! Great stuff.

No, I haven't heard any of them; that's why I asked. He did a few covers live at one of the shows I was at (acoustic, by himself) and they were excellent.

There are a few posted on youtube as well, the ABBA one is quite popular.

The acoustic arrangements on most of them are splendid.

Did anyone else go to the PT show last night in Richmond, VA? I do not know what the second song of the second set was......and it's buggin' me. Don't remember any of the lyrics either (& I wasn't even drunk). Great set that was nowhere near as crowded as the Baltimore show I went to earlier on this tour. Sound was slightly better in Baltimore too. Love PT!!! I hope the small crowd doesn't scare them from coming back to Richmond.

According to setlist.fm, it was Russia on Ice

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/porcupine-tree/2010/the-national-richmond-va-bd4ddaa.html

It's from the Lightbulb Sun album.
I don't think these guys get scared of small crowds, they've been playing for small crowds for almost 20 years. Only recently they have been filling up venues. They have slowly been moving on to slightly larger venues in the larger cities.

You know I checked that website too for the setlist, but the song "Russia" sounded nothing like the one they played. Maybe I was drunk!!

Listen to the whole song, it starts slow and changes up toward the end. Great song; my favorite from that album.

You sound confident. I'll give it another shot tonight to see if it's the right one. I really wanted them to do Blackest Eyes, but....they didn't. Can't complain though, they put on a super show. I love The Incident more and more.

I listened critically to the whole song.....and you are correct, sir!!! Thanks for the help! Lightbulb Sun has now made it to heavy rotation (the DVD-A and cd).

I am digging on the "Stupid Dream" DVD-A right wow I want more!

Excellent show last night :) Steven said this was a one of a kind show for this tour. Normally Coheed and Cambria would be doing a long set, but there was a different opening band that I've never heard of and they only played around 6-7 songs (they were interesting) and PT played for a full 2hrs. Steve said they had been in SF earlier (Dec) so he wanted to play something different this time and that meant they did some songs that they don't often play live. My favorite was easily when they played the first half of Russia on Ice with the second half of Anesthetize. They played a very good variety of stuff from the whole catalog. We're not supposed to, but I snapped a few pics.

+1

John and I have been to 3 PT shows in SF. This was by far the best sounding and looking show we've seen. I opted for balcony seats instead of floor like John. The venue, the Warfield Theater, has 150' (at least) ceilings and being back aways (nearly dead center) with all the additional space above us, gave the sound more air and allowed for some separation. It was, at some points, as good as their concert DVD/BDs. The only criticism I have is that the bass is still too hot. The guy is too good, to sound that distorted. John was close to the stage and said he was clipping his amps madly. I know guitar players use that sound to shape riffs tonally, but every PT album, DVD A or concert features very clean and precise bass. Their shows don't feature that (that I've heard).

They borrowed the lights and lighting guy from C&C for this one night show. I think they may fire their own and hire this guy. Very impressive look for the band.
