John and I have been to 3 PT shows in SF. This was by far the best sounding and looking show we've seen. I opted for balcony seats instead of floor like John. The venue, the Warfield Theater, has 150' (at least) ceilings and being back aways (nearly dead center) with all the additional space above us, gave the sound more air and allowed for some separation. It was, at some points, as good as their concert DVD/BDs. The only criticism I have is that the bass is still too hot. The guy is too good, to sound that distorted. John was close to the stage and said he was clipping his amps madly. I know guitar players use that sound to shape riffs tonally, but every PT album, DVD A or concert features very clean and precise bass. Their shows don't feature that (that I've heard).

They borrowed the lights and lighting guy from C&C for this one night show. I think they may fire their own and hire this guy. Very impressive look for the band.
Going to see them (for the the third time in the past year) in Asheville and was curious what the heck they are going to play as a "co-headliner". I saw the set list from the SF show...interesting indeed.

Simply the best!

I imagine you're going to get a large dose of the Incident and some of the better FOABP cuts. This was included in our show and they definitely seemed better rehearsed on this material. We got a couple of Stupid Dream cuts, Even Less, the long version split in half, some Nil Recurring, a taste of Deadwing, an oldie, Stars Dying, finishing up with Blackest Eyes.

I loosened my ear plugs toward the end and my ears are still ringing a little :) Actually, everything just sounds like the volume is turned down compared to a PT show :D

Wore em for the opener...had to. Never put them on for PT and didn't need them.
