But stats don't always win games. If you look at the most important stat (wins) you'll see that Peyton is 16-0 in games he's completed this year. Brees is 15-3.
I just want to see the game already. I'm pumped for another great matchup. DOT would be insane, but with these offenses I doubt it will make it past the first couple of drives.

15-2. Peyton is also 2-2 in the playoffs in the past 3 years.

Stats are factual but they can be misleading. There could be many different reasons for a QB throwing for 400 yards or having multiple touchdowns in a game. To know for certain if a QB did have a great game is to actually watch the game. Stats don't tell you when a QB makes a boneheaded decision at a crucial time in the game. Stats also don't tell why his stats are so inflated in that game - did the QB truely have an amazing game or was the team coming from a 21 point deficit and had to run no huddle and a spread offense the rest of the game. Whats the coaches philosphy on offense, another critical area that can determine/inflate positional stats.

QB rating is the most flawed statistic in any sport. If a QB is having a really horrendous game, there is cases where he can throw incompletions and have his QB rating go up.

The only stat I care about with QB's is interceptions and turnovers.

Completion % doesn't tell you anything, a QB could be throwing 2 yard passes to a TE or dumping off screen passes for small gains. This doesn't make a good QB and will also skew his QB rating. What makes a QB elite is throwing passes into spots that are vitually impossible and that only the WR can get and the ability to come back late in games. A QB can have a 90-100% QB rating and be totally ineffective.

You really have to watch the QB's body of work on film to gauge the entire story.

Dude I realize that and I've watched every QB I get a chance too. The best is Big Ben. I've seen that guy bring his team back in the worst weather after getting hit like a whipping boy. Peyton is the most efficient player in the league, but he's slipped. He's not as good as he was a couple years ago IMO. Brees is just flat out sick. His receivers stink. Don't let their stats lie. That man threads the needle on nearly every throw.

I'd rank Ben, Brees and Manning as the top 3 in that order based on what I've seen this year. Manning has thrown too many picks to be the best this year IMO, but this is an opinion. As it is for everyone else. Not everyone thinks Rice was the GWROAT. I do. It's an opinion.

From Jaws...................

“He’s the alien now,” Jaworski said. “He’s playing the game like he’s from outer space. No one on this planet is playing the game like he is. The performance he had against the [New York] Jets [in the AFC championship game], that is a damn good defense. That is not some slappy defense put together with a bunch of guys; that’s a defense terrorizing people. Manning made them look pedestrian.

“The skill set is there, the pocket presence is there, the speed of decision-making is incomparable. He sees the field with incredible clarity. But the thing I see with him and other great quarterbacks, his movement in the pocket. It’s not talked about a lot, but he really perceives where the pressure is coming from.”

Brees is deadly accurate and has all the qualities of the best QB's in the league. Manning and Brees are really close, but there is intangibles (which stats don't tell you) like Mannings command/effeciency over his offense/team and the consistent ability to come back late in games that separates the two.

Well, that does make sense because incompletions are hardly the worst thing that can happen on a pass ;)

Well lately Big Ben has been the best comeback QB. Career wise Brady has the highest conversion percentage though.

According http://www.forbes.com/2009/11/02/nfl-clutch-quarterbacks-lifestyle-sports-football-tom-brady.html

Peyton fails more than he succeeds at comebacks(45%) That's better than Favre, but hardly spectacular compared to Brady's(64%). Big Ben is rated at (52%).

How about the Miami comeback this year for Brees? That was insane.

Maybe Peyton just hasnt been in the comeback position as many times:eek: The Colts and Pats have had the best teams through out the 2000s record wise. BR is another good QB, as are the others mentioned, but as for the best playing the game now, its Peyton. Matt Schaub is a numbers QB with nothing to show for it. There are a lot of good starting QBs.

Big Ben always had the Steelers defence to back him up...I'll give you Brady but the Pats were that good. Now for the Brees comeback in Miami well Manning did it as well. BTW didn't you have Brees in your FF pool and Big Ben in your other pool...your a homer too.....:p
