MediaMonkey works great for organizing all your music and making sure all the tags are correct. Just wish it would work in Linux as well.

I use AVGFree on my XP laptop and I must say that I've never noticed it take up too many resources. I don't even notice it slow down when it's running it's scans.

It still is the best to me. Nothing like a software engine that's worked for over 12 years.
I concur, winamp is awesome.

I was wondering if anyone knows a good program that can join AVI's together, or join video's together. I tried using windows movie maker, but everyone knows it's pretty much a giant piece of garbage. I used AVI joiner and it worked amazingly well, however it is shareware and my trial expired.

VirtualDub is the best

Check guides on doom9.net if you have question using it - they are very good and detailed

There you go:
http://mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/

But unfortunately it doesn't have "i" in it's name (as in iPlayer :D )
That is a movie player isn't it? And is it better than itunes? I tunes on the mac side is not at all the same as the windows version which is slow and buggy. I tunes on the mac side is fast, stable and very mature. Which is why I asked if there is a better player for os x not just another player. I will look at it though so thanks. :)

I'm just curious if your FAST, MATURE and STABLE player supports these formats:
MPEG layer 1, 2, and 3 (MP3) audio
AC3/A52, E-AC3, DTS (Dolby Digital) audio (software or SP/DIF)
AAC (MPEG-4 audio)
WMA (DivX Audio) v1, v2
WMA 9 (WMAv3), Voxware audio,
RealAudio: COOK, SIPRO, ATRAC3 (using Real libraries)
RealAudio: DNET and older codecs
QuickTime: Qclp, Q-Design QDMC/QDM2, MACE 3/6 (using QT libraries), ALAC
Ogg Vorbis audio
alaw/ulaw, (ms)gsm, pcm, *adpcm and other simple old audio formats
Plus:
Flac, Ape, TrueHD, mlp, Uncompressed DVD/vob LPCM
in world of doesn't - mPlayer - does.

There is also SongBird -(multiplatform) if you like iTunes like interface and songs management.

That's cool it does all that, but I think what I meant was a music management system rather than just a player. I am looking at songbird but it seems to be just a copy if itunes. I can see uses for mplayer though so I am keeping it:)

Anyone know of freeware that'll fix the colors on video? I've got some underwater video and the colors are washed out.

I read most of this thread(I may have missed something) but steam is one cool piece of software. They sure know how to sell some cool games as well.

Inssider - Highfigh gets credit for this one. Nice little utility for use with wireless connections.

Speaking of wireless connections, Connectify could be a useful app. I tried it on my laptop and it worked great. It basically turns your laptop into a wireless access point.
