Ever talk to a US-based engineer whose department was at risk for being outsourced? Doesn't sound like it. How about a US-based engineer whose department at a US Defense contractor was at risk for being outsourced? The people I'm referring to have an Indian guy as their boss and not a single one can stand him. Even his bosses don't like him and they all think he's a complete tool, yet he's still there.

Color shouldn't matter- qualifications should be the main criterion, not employment ratios.

Who does the outsourcing? It's not the Indian engineers.

Greed is what kills companies.

The Indian engineers we have in our company are excellent and better than half the Americans I graduated with. Diversity makes us stronger not weaker. Bad companies will die and their good workers will find jobs at better companies.

Greed and cost overruns. And bad management, employees who just don't care, etc.

They'll find jobs as long as demand is good. If not, and the work isn't outsourced, they should.

We got an Iranian transfer student to my HS physics class just before the first semester ended and he was the only one in the class who could convert Fahrenheit to Celsius and vise-versa. To be honest, I don't remember learning that before the question came up on the test and my classes started working with Metric in 7th grade, which was '69. I had several Indian, Pakistani and other foreign teachers and professors- the only conclusion I can draw from the foreign students and teachers I have met is that they learn the material earlier and better than most people in the US. The school system I was in really cared about the best & brightest but the rest could pound sand, for all they seemed to care. The guy next to me in my freshman algebra class was disgusted by the B he got on his mid-term test. Before he told me why, I said that it could have been worse and that's when he told me that he had covered the same material when he was in the equivalent to our third grade. He came here from Prague during the Soviet invasion. They wouldn't let him test out of the basic math and science class before freshman year but once he produced some independent work, he never took a math class at our school again- he went to Marquette University for those. We had a really strong science department, so he did his advanced science classes there. Nice guy- brilliant. So was his brother. Mike, from my class, works for NASA now.

Well Germany outsources tech support to the US. My best friend works in a German call center in America. It's hilarious. Outsourcing is part of capitalism and advancement. The cost savings is passed on to consumers in cheaper products. I don't see anyone here whining about the cost of receivers. If it weren't for outsourcing they would be thousands of dollars. Outsourcing allows for laborers to compete for jobs and drives down the overall cost. We can complain, but if you buy products that are beneficiaries then you are supporting it with your actions. And we all know actions speak louder than words.

That's kind of depressing, I didn't know the formula to convert it and it took about 2 minutes to figure it out knowing nothing more than 0=32 and 100=212.

I am not siding with anyone, but he has a right to have whatever club he wants and he can invite whomever he wants. I also think he is doomed to failure and his league will never get off the ground. I would also fight for his rights even if I disagree with his motives. I also would not care if it were reversed. There are plenty of examples of that anyway. I guess my point is like what Cosby said when he talks about how a lot of blacks talk about themselves and what they put in their music. They can't scream racism at every turn when they promote, and celebrate it, and call themselves the same names they don't want others calling them. They have start ending it within their own lives and communities first. That is is basically what he said. That goes for anyone really; white, black or otherwise. Cosby is absolutely correct.
