Let me get your 2 cents on my sub decision

So, I dont like the orange peel finish on the ED A2-300, or how it has a 18" depth which makes it sound sort of retangular instead of a square, but I really dig the price and free shipping and everyone says it performs great.

I like the look of the outlaw compact, but I have not heard alot about this one and it seems like the ED would out perform it. However, I read that it looks pretty good apperance wise which means it could be used as a possible end table maybe & I would get less flack from the spouse on the ugly box in the room.

The HSU's line look good and I hear good things but the only turn off for me is since I live in CA I would have to pay tax and the shipping costs which would put them over the price of the other 2.

So if I weigh all three its a hard choice. They all have there pluses or minuses. I am trying to stay under 400 total. I also considered getting a BIC america sub for the meantime, and then in a few years sell it and get another brand, but the more I read people say "just save the extra hundred and get a real sub from HSU, ED or Outlaw"

Anyone have any inputs? The only thing I am lacking is a sub so this is my current mission!

I certainly agree with this. There's a world of difference between the BIC and an HSU, SVS, or eD.

Something to keep in mind is that some of the Outlaw subs are designed by HSU. At $400 and under, HSU, eD, and Outlaw are your best bets unless you go DIY.

True. I digg the SVS brand too but their price is a jump higher just for the smallest 10" model . Since I dont have the opportunity to test them out in person Its a hard decision.

SVS is awesome! They also have great customer service and if you weren't fully satisfied then I am sure you could return it!

The also have b-stock which is less expensive.

Peace and Good Sound!

An excellent suggestion. Yeah, keep looking there or contact them - they might be able to find something for you. I looked right after you first posted, but I didn't see any subs listed on their b-stock page. Like you said, their cheapest option is just a bit above your budget. I have an SVS and love it, but I've heard good things about those other brands, too.

Well I have two of the A2-300's. I personally have no issues with the finish, I was surprised how nice it looked once it arrived. I ran with one for about 3-4 months and was very happy with it and then added the second later. If you have never had any type of a high end home sub the A2-300 will knock your socks off. I would get one now. If you do not love the finish live with it for a year or so and then sell it used. I would bet you would not lose all that much in the transaction. The ED does include free shipping and no tax. Be sure to be looking at that with other manufacturers. Most of the high end subs are 60+ lbs so shipping can quick add an extra $50+ dollars.

Just my two cents.....Enjoy the hunt.
