Star Trek - Blu-ray

I am a trek fan but not a trekkie. The only thing I can say about this film is it did not insult the original or make fun of it. It did have a couple of cool scenes and most of the actors were ok except for Kirk. He only showed some of the old kirk traits near the end. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, but also not a great trek film by any stretch. However, it was far better than any of the next generation junk.

If you watch all of the extras on the BD, and perhaps additional DVD edition, you will discover that the director wanted to have some of the similar character traits from the old series, but also wanted them to be different. That being said I think they did a great job with the characters, and accomplished what they were after.

Did anyone else watch all of the deleted scenes? I really hope that when they get to klingons, that they don't have those dumb helmets on (which reminded me of Lord of the Rings) and do the makeup/masks correctly. Also they were saying that they had taken them to Rura Penthe, but it was not the snowy wasteland from the previous movie. I'm glad that they cut that scene out.

This movie was "ok". Nothing more. I wasn't impressed. Just my 2 cents. And I like Star Trek. Oh well. Maybe my expectation were too high.

I had no expectations from it. Maybe that is why I can forgive the plot issues and take it for what it is: a popcorn movie.

Someone already said it, but I'll say it again: that guy who played McCoy nailed it. Almost more McCoy than "the real McCoy" :D

As with most recent sci-fi my expectations were pretty grim. Maybe thats why I at least found it watchable, and I did not need duct tape to keep my head from exploding.

I love popcorn movies! I even have a hard time classifying this as a popcorn movie. Popcorn movies should be over the top. This was just vanilla.

Agree with the McCoy comment. :)

I just watched this on my Christmas present and all I can say is 'what's not to like?' :)

I kept waiting for Kumar, a few Heroes and some members from the Run, Fat Boy, Run cast.

Leonard Nemoy is still alive !!! That dude is like Joan Rivers ... eternal. :D

How many times did you rewatch the scene with the green girl? :)
I didn't rewatch it. Once was good.
My girl was there ...
Rewatching it might have concerned her a bit ...
This is where you have me out matched. Niki don't care. ;)

Just watched this last night, I thought it was pretty good, although I'm not into star trek at all, I still enjoyed it. The picture quality was top notch, and the audio was very good as well, but I expected a bit more punch on some stuff, but it had a few scenes with some very good lfe.
