I think announcers are like women. Everyone has their preferences.

Collinsworth has got to be the dumbest piece of $%^t I've ever heard announce a game. He literally does not know the rules!!! It's almost sad when you hear Michaels correcting him b/c Chris has gotten wrong again.

That said- I loved him when he was on Inside the NFL on HBO and when he was a studio analyst on NBC. He's definitely more of a studio guy who needs more time to craft his thoughts than the 20 seconds you get between plays.

You haven't heard many games announced then. Ever hear of Dennis Miller.

When you get it bad enough you start to appreciate the Collinsworth's. Besides this is his first year. How many of us are good the first year we do something?

I don't get how people don't like Collinsworth. He's either the only announcer who really understands football or he's the only guy who doesn't dumb it down for the audience. Collinsworth is my favorite announcer by a long shot. I don't care if he gets a rule wrong every now and then.

They wanted more mass-market appeal, make it more of an entertainment show. Then they realized it works better if they stick to football.

Tony Kornheiser was just as bad . I think you are great Tony on PTI but damn your time doing Monday Night Football broadcasts was dreadful. Probably one of the biggest flops ever in the booth.

I actually watch AI, I love seeing talented singers. Ellen has no business on the show though. I might not watch this year.

According to Randy Jackson this is why they chose Ellen to be on American Idol.
I think it was a good choice. And I'm looking forward to watching.

"She's like the voice of the people," Randy explained. "Simon and I and Kara are all music experts, it's what we do. And, I think it's nice to have a voice of the people up there. We may say, you know, 'Those notes are all weird and you didn't sing the melody correctly.' But, you know [Ellen] may say, 'At least it was kind of pleasant.'"

According to Jackson, DeGeneres will bring something new to the show. “There’s so much music industry insider talk with me and Simon [Cowell] and Kara [DioGuardi] that I didn’t think we needed any more of that,” he explained. “Ellen hit it right on the head — I think she could be the voice of the people. It’s like somebody in the home audience watching and going, ‘What would I say [about this contestant]?’ Ellen’s going to be saying it for [them].”

She was on an episode of So You Think You Can Dance. She was a guest judge. All she did was make jokes and offer extreme vagueries about the dancing, because she doesn't know anything about dancing and can't offer a coherent critique. It's going to be the same with AI. I really like Ellen, but AI doesn't need a comedian eating up air time.

AI is fun sometimes, but not my thing. Glee is my new guilty pleasure.

I think it's easy to be critical of announcers, but I care far more about the Cowboys than Collinsworth. I can tell you my favorite announcers are the ones that announce games we win.
