I need a router ...

If you look on Ebay, there's a guy that sells pre-modified Linksys WRT54G-TM (Tmobile) routers with DD-WRT firmware. His modified versions are very pricey, but worth every penny. I think I paid about $200 for mine.

His work is excellent (coming from a electronics rework tech, that says a bit)...he added additional heatsinking to the inside, overclocked the router's CPU and added extra flash memory.

It was doing just fine when I had a 30MBps down and a 12MBps upstream connection...never has a glitch (no power cycling under continuous high load usage, etc)...and the configuration options of the DD-WRT software is incredible from a security standpoint.

Looks great...physically. The reviews would make me pass, though.
Hmmm ... I just had a real live Computer Geek recommend it. I'll be sure to read the reviews though.

I was kind of concerned about the possibility of heat issues with Strube's recommendation. I guess I need to read my thread again. I might be turning into Phil and selling everything though. The turkey is making it hard to think.

Hey, now. They dance around while seductively chanting, "gobble, gobble." What's a guy to think, especially with the voices practically yelling at him?

 :D
I am starting to worry about your dog.

I've had the D-Link 655 for a couple months now and works great. Just checked and it's only slightly warm.

Finally pulled the trigger on this today and got one of these.

What's cool is that I don't know how to use either of them.

... to be continued ...

:)

It beeped ...

:D

I actually looked for a manual. It's suppose to do other beeps when it's on battery and when the battery is low and maybe when the battery is bad. I never had one before. It's got other plugs on the side.

Where does the henway go?

Thanks but mine is a little different. It's the 500'U'. It doesn't have all the lights and stuff.
Gotcha. Go to this link here and search for "Product Manual". Then click that link. I'd give the direct link, but Amazon isn't allowing that.

That's cool as sh!t. :D I appreciate it. :)

I can only hope for this level of assistance with the router.

Thanks again.

I just installed mine successfully. My laptop now works at home and it's all secure with a WEP key. It wasn't too bad at all. I got a little nervous a couple of times but it worked out well enough.

I guess now it's time to tackle Netflix ... Ugh ... this is gonna suck. :D
