I'll second that. I have Mits Diamond 65 inch and I'm quite happy. It's really a size to dollar thing. I just really don't have any interest in anything less than 60-65 inches. I just don't think you get that grand cinematic experience with less. I don't know that there's a 60" panel for under $5K.

There's certainly the cool factor with flat panels and that's certainly a very important consideration. For me, the flat panel is for the bedroom, the office, and spare bedroom. I just really wanted a bigger picture.

I wouldn't be concerned about a "dying" technology. You can could say plasma is going the same direction. I don't know that it means much today.

If you have unlimited funds, than a huge flat panel brings you the best of both worlds, big pic, cool tv. Other than that, I'd go for the maximum screen size for my main room. I was just looking at the 83" (I think it's 83) at the new AV super store near my house. Even with the crappy settings, the picture look pretty damn stunning in their less than perfect media room.

Well doi agree with you RPTVs are pretty much a burden. 62 inch Lcd are pretty expensive for me....... do u think i should go for plasma?
Plasma is tops in PQ. However, the panels cost way more than the equivalent RPTV. If money were no object, I would go plasma, front projection, RPTV, then LCD for equivalent sized displays. LCD's color reproduction bothers me.

BTW, best bang for the buck isn't RPTV. It's front projection.

I don't disagree with that, but a pj adds it's own set of pros/cons. For a lot of people, like me for instance, they just don't have the light control required for a really good picture. I have the room, the perfect wall, but my house is an open floor plan so the kitchen is off just the right and the hallway to the office and back bedroom is off to the left with a large window. Also, I don't know about the cost effectiveness of running a pj as your main source. Don't they burn through bulbs a lot faster? You also have to add the cost of a decent screen,.

Now ideally, I'd have a 55" or 60" plasma or LCD on the wall for just my daily viewing of Modern Marvels, Mega anything, Colossal Construction (I love that stuff) and news.. and have a motorized screen with a pj for when I can control the room for critical viewing.

Anything less than 65" then Plasma is the way to go if you can swing it. If you want larger, and can't do a proj/screen setup for whatever reason, then the DLP RP units from Mitsibishi are an excellent choice, up to 82".

Projectors need extra space.... don`t have huge wall. U think that i should get a screen if i go for a projector.
